Royal wedding: The dirty trick that police are playing on Windsor’s homeless

Last Updated: May 17, 2018By

Police take possessions away from homeless people in Windsor.

Remember the outrage over plans by the local council to move homeless people out of Windsor before the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle?

The plan by Tory councillors led to claims that activists would bus homeless people into the area before being defeated when the police refused to do it.

Then the council decided to impose a £1,000 fine on homelessness.

Now – well, taste the irony in the following report when you compare it with what has happened since. Here’s the BBC:

Homeless people will not be moved on ahead of the royal wedding, according to a senior police officer.

It comes after the leader of Windsor & Maidenhead council called on police to tackle an “epidemic of rough sleeping and vagrancy” before the ceremony.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are due to marry at St George’s Chapel in Windsor at 12:00 BST on Saturday.

Thames Valley Police Supt Jim Weems said it “takes a very compassionate approach to homelessness”.

And it’s true – homeless people aren’t being moved.

Instead, police are taking all their possessions away.

So much for the compassionate approach!

It makes a mockery of Prince Harry’s work to tackle the stigma of mental health problems. Poor mental health is both a cause and a consequence of homelessness, and this action by the police is an insult to the Prince’s work and makes him – through no fault of his own, one hopes – a hypocrite.

This Writer looks forward to a Royal wedding in which the activists have made good their threat and lined the streets with the homeless these so-called authorities are trying to hide.

At shop fronts and bus stops next to Windsor Castle, footage showed the possessions of some of the street homeless people being put into sealed plastic bags and taken away in a police van.

They have been told the bags, which were filled with bedding, books and magazines, will be kept in storage until Monday.

Police said today they were offering the homeless an opportunity to store their items until after the big day.

In [a] video filmed in Windsor, one homeless man who was made to pack away his possessions says: “There was big speak on the TV about the homeless being helped but when they said helped they meant removed.”

None of my family will be watching the extremely costly non-event of the Hewitt wedding. I suspect that public interest is quite limited.

So after their “larger” possesions such as sleeping bags are taken away and they freeze to death during the night, will their bodies be discretely covered over until after the £30m + all important ceremony?

When the “help” that’s available is a hostile DWP or Government funded Charity who will hound you to death if you don’t comply, is it any wonder that they politely decline?

I don’t think they will freeze in the weather we are having, but that isn’t the point. In Nazi Germany jews thought they were going to better opportunities by “being Helped” we all know what happened.

What gives the police the legal rights to even Touch someone else’s property, taking someone’s property Is Theft no matter who handles it!!!!

I couldn’t give a S***t about the bunch of total scroungers, yes they Are scroungers Not people who really need proper help.

” … is it any wonder that they politely decline? … ” No! Have you forgotten the recent scandalous revelations that homeless charities were passing on information about rough sleepers they were ‘helping’ to the govt’s Immigration department so they could be rounded up and deported, if possible!

BTW – Is anyone else having difficulties with notifications from this site being blocked? Look up ‘Intercept JTRIG’ on DuckDuckGo search engine for a possible explanation.

I was making a point about the freezing (don’t you think the cynical Tory council consciously took that into account?) but would YOU like to volunteer to sleep outside tonight without any cover?
It’s the soft language of “help”, “assist”, “support”, “voluntary”,”store their belongings” we all know is PR and does nothing to help those that need it most, it’s simply a nasty justification for moving them on…

This is despicable this gvmmt have put most of those homeless pple where they are with their nasty policies & Then they kick them when they’re further down!! This gvmmt is ruthless, greedy, nasty & incapable of seeing other viewpoints except their own. There is no work unless you want to work a 12 hour day & kill yourself in the process or zero hours where you don’t know when you are working which is no security for anyone. Nine to five jobs are a thing of the past, this hostile cruel gvmmt have stopped pple being able to rent or buy homes because they won’t cap the rented sector & how can anyone save for a deposit for a house on zero hours?

These pple on the streets were the same as you or I, they had jobs & somewhere to live but they’ve fallen through the net. Maybe they have become ill, which does happen, & the gvmnt have sanctioned them. Many many pple are one pay cheque away from eviction. Put nasty sanctions on those pple = homeless. There are thousands of pple that know they are one pay cheque away from eviction! Welcome to tory Britain! I feel for these homeless pple, this is not their fault homelessness has risen 60% since 2010. A minority may have drink or drug problems – but they need help not kicking around. This gvmnt will go into history as the nastiest, greediest vile gvmnt ever!!

Why are we paying for this wedding anyway? Where does it say on any document about tax collection that I should be subscribing to provide the royal families grandchildren with such an extravagant wedding ceremony, what’s wrong with the local registry office?
