Cannabis-based medicines to be prescribed in the UK from autumn

Last Updated: July 26, 2018By Tags: , , , , , ,

Legalised: Cannabis oil.

This is a welcome announcement.

Cannabis oil is said to help with cancer, diabetes, Crohn’s disease, gout, glaucoma, opioid dependence, alcohol abuse, epilepsy, psoriasis, anorexia, asthma, adrenal disease, inflammatory bowel disease, fibromyalgia (Mrs Mike will be pleased), rheumatoid arthritis, migraines, multiple sclerosis and other conditions.

I hope someone keeps an eye on trends in the health service, and records the effect of releasing these medicines to the British public.

Doctors in the UK can prescribe cannabis-derived medicine after the government announced a relaxation of laws governing access to the substance.

Thousands of people with drug-resistant conditions will potentially be able to use cannabis-derived medicinal products for treatment after the home secretary, Sajid Javid, announced they should be placed in schedule 2 of the 2001 Misuse of Drugs Regulations, allowing clinicians to prescribe them by the autumn.

Cannabis and it’s oils and resins has been available on prescription in Camden for years.
Tony’s holistic medical center in Caledonian Rd
London dispensed it’s own organically grown weed, hash and oil as a trial for people who were referred by their doctor . Unfortunately the clinic had to close when local gangs tried to muscle in and the police relocated the operation to a safe place nearby. It’s still available but collection involves being met somewhere and escorted to the clinic which makes it feel like an illegal act is taking place .
In all the years I got my weed from there I had respite from pain for much of the day. Then the DWP drcided my legs had regrown permanently damaged nerves so they took my car and my income away so I could not afford it or travel to collect it. Since then my condition has deteriorated to the point where I need full time care and have to endure constant pain. I just hope my GP will agree to write the prescription and that it will be free

But on Radio 4 they interviewed a govt representative who said that, although medicinal cannabis is produced in this country for export, it costs about four hundred pounds a week. He also said that legalising it will make it possible for scientists to do research that will establish how useful it is, and for what conditions. So don’t get your hopes up.It won’t be available for us plebs any time soon.
