Birkenhead CLP overwhelmingly votes no-confidence and withdrawal of the whip from Frank Field

Frank Field at a previous censure vote against him by his local Labour Party.

Following its report on Vauxhall CLP’s censure of Kate Hoey, Skwawkbox now reports on a decision on Frank Field’s future, by Birkenhead Constituency Labour Party:

Birkenhead CLP similarly voted overwhelming no-confidence in veteran right-winger Frank Field and called for the withdrawal of the whip. More than eighty percent of the votes cast supported the motion.

Skwawkbox also echoed the sentiment of This Site, when I reported its story about Ms Hoey:

Will similar moves be mounted against John Mann and Graham Stringer, the remaining pair?

While I deplore the actions of the four Labour MPs who voted with the Conservatives on a Brexit amendment, consideration must be given to spare Frank Field from deselection. His performance as Chair of the Work and Pensions Committee has been exemplary. He has done a yeoman’s job exposing the flaws and human costs of the draconian welfare reforms.

You’ll notice that deselection was not among the penalties demanded by his CLP.
      I thought that was interesting.

I agree that Frank Field has done a lot of good work in exposing what the government is doing, but he never goes far enough. For example, the Select Committee didn’t ask the DWP about deaths when they were investigating disabled/chronically ill benefits, even though DNS sent them evidence of what was going on.

To have him vote with the Tories was a slap in the face. When I saw that he had, I was… Well, I felt betrayed. How could he possibly vote with the party who has been causing all the misery that he is SO familiar with?!

frank field was always rubbish to labour so no loss he was like mcVey is to conservatives’ always trying to mix bad principals for the sick and disabled on the pretence he was on their side but never was

A positive move. He has been helping to keep this rotten to the core Tory government in power.

It’s about time these conservative loving right wingers were shown the door, shame it didn’t come from the top of the party.

What took his constituency party so long ? I saw through this man years ago, he feigns concern for the poor and dispossessed whilst using them to further his own ends .
When presented with evidence of fraud and wrong doing by companies contracted to the DWP to provide so called training and back to work skills , he simply ignores it.
    A spineless inadequate fool.
