Guardian article reveals scale of Labour prejudice against those accused of anti-Semitism

Jeremy Corbyn: He seems to be the only member of the Labour Party who is immune from false allegations of anti-Semitism.

As This Writer warned, it is now clear that one only has to be accused of anti-Semitism to be “kicked out” of the Labour Party, thanks to the hysteria whipped up by those who see advantage in it.

Jessica Elgot’s recent article in The Guardian referred to “cases” that are “pending” – not people who have been found to be anti-Semites; just those who have been accused. And look at the reaction.

A “party source” is quoted as saying the “antisemitism subgroup” of Labour’s National Executive Committee means “we have the potential to kick people out super fast”. Apparently justice is not a concern.

What kind of person makes such a suggestion?

And what kind of newspaper publishes it as evidence that Labour is taking appropriate action?

The corruption in this system is clear. Allegations of anti-Semitism are being made dishonestly – not to rid Labour of racists but to “kick out” members their accusers simply do not like.

Why else would the NEC have included, in its sheet of charges against me, a directive for the panel hearing my case to find me guilty, no matter what the evidence says?

I have now sent my defence to the Labour Party – all 194 pages of it – and there will be a hearing at some point in the future. I have absolutely no confidence that the interests of justice will be served by it.

That is one reason I am crowdfunding for legal action in a genuine court. I believe this is the only way the facts of the matter will be revealed.

The Labour Party deserves better than the fake justice its members are being offered.

Leaked Labour disciplinary papers have laid bare the scale of the challenge the party’s governing body faces in tackling antisemitism.

Around 70 cases are believed to be pending. However, the papers reveal only a minority were considered by the NEC because of time constraints.

Another party source said action would ramp up considerably within weeks. “The new code of conduct means we will not have to go to the full NEC disputes committee, but a smaller antisemitism subgroup. It will mean we have the potential to kick people out super fast, instead of waiting months for a full disputes meeting and just getting through 11 of 70.”

I don’t understand why Jeremy Corbyn said that £abour was not dealing with allegations swiftly enough, implying that more had to be done not to get to the truth, if any, behind the allegations but merely to be seen to be acting against the accused. I thought that the whole point of taking the time was to make sure that justice was served. It is absolutely no good acting upon an allegation as if it were truth. Allegations have to be PROVEN to be truth. How can any of us have confidence that any complaints that WE take to the Party are treated seriously and impartially?
This is extremely serious and I think that all members need to take action regarding this parody of justice.

Ms Elgot was on Newsnight’s ‘papers’ panel last evening. She and the BBC anchor and a young man from ‘Westmonster’ all only used his first name to refer to the Tories’ blond arsehole and former secretary of state for endangering foreign relations. Are they chums? Have they no other names to call him than this matey term?

This is getting out of hand, how can so few hold the party to ransom & it’s working.

What struck me when I saw the article with its dramatic ‘scoop!’ presentation (who is leaking these disciplinary papers, BTW?) was how tenuous all the examples of supposed antisemitism were. Sure there may be a/s there, or a/s may be inferred, facts may be questioned and further context sought on some of the accusations, but not a single one seemed to express anything that is covered within the first two crucial sentences of the IHRA definition (nor any dictionary definition), namely “Antisemitism [as being] a certain perception of Jews, which may be expressed as hatred toward Jews”. For that one would have to reach deep into the contentious “examples [that] may serve as illustrations” and be determined to classify it as a/s rather than it being a demonstable fact. I can’t help but wonder how many of these complaints were prompted by or rely on the ‘evidence’ provided by the prolific and virulently anti-Palestinian racist blogger David Collier.

As for Jessica Elgot, what can one say without having to be very precise with one’s language? She seems to have a direct line to those who are keen to maintain the narrative that a/s is deeply embedded within the Labour Party, particularly amongst those on the left. I recently stumbled on an article about her from several years before she began working at the Guardian that contained a joke that, whilst possibly more than a little hackneyed, did make me laugh:

” If The New York Times said the end of the world was at hand, Jessica Elgot would write an article entitled: “End of Word at Hand, Jews to Be Most Affected.”

The Tories must be laughing their heads off at this contrived, false and divisive manipulation of the Labour Party.
