How the Tories solve homelessness: Rough sleeper found dead in Paisley

Police on the scene in Incle Street, Paisley.

“It is simply shameful and unacceptable that this is happening in 21st century Scotland.”

The tragic death of a rough sleeper in the heart of Paisley has sparked calls for new action on homelessness in the town.

Police say the body of a man, who has not been named, was found on the corner of Gauze Street and Incle Street.

The grim discovery – just yards from Renfrewshire Council’s headquarters and Paisley Town Hall – has led to questions from politicians and charities.

While I accept that Tory cuts have lead to this, rough sleepers in Scotland are the responsibility of the Scottish Government, sadly. I detest everything the selfserviant party have done in their 8 years of Tory rule. Love to know what you think and do normally enjoy and value your daily blog…

Isn’t this one of those instances in which the Tories in Westminster palm off responsibility onto the devolved governments and then deny them the funding to carry out their duty?

At root, yes, but the ultimate responsibility is for the SG and the local councils. It is an infuriating thing up here that everything is put at the SNP door, whether they have real control or not. The council responsible in this case is just one of the vast majority in Scotland that have the most councilors from the SNP but are not controlled by them Although Labour councilors in Aberdeen were suspended from the party for forming an official coalition with the Tories, most others have still formed unofficial ones. This has allowed them to block the SNP from virtually every committee while, at the same time, publicly blaming them for any ills since they have the most members.

Spot on Mike. Tories and right-wingers in general always find scapegoats for their own nasty, deliberately vindictive and divisive policies.
