The power of suggestion: Jewish Chronicle poll shows public has been misled about anti-Semitism

Jeremy Corbyn is supported by significant number of Jews. Perhaps they were the “wrong kind” and were not asked to participate in the JC’s poll.

Yet again, the Jewish Chronicle has turned the Labour anti-Semitism story backward.

The paper has trumpeted the results of a poll carried out by Survation, showing that more than 85 per cent of British Jews think Jeremy Corbyn is an anti-Semite.

We all know he is nothing of the kind.

In contrast, the poll also indicates that only 98.3 per cent of British Jews think Theresa May – a genuine racist and anti-Semite, judging from her party’s support of the anti-Semitic and Islamophobic Hungarian regime in the European Parliament – has no hatred of Jews at all.

It is a travesty.

Inevitably our friends on the social media have correctly identified the problem, which is media outlets like the Jewish Chronicle that push fake news rather than fact.

Sadly, this particular organ is not about to improve. It has a political agenda, which is the removal of Jeremy Corbyn as leader of the Labour Party in the UK.

Perhaps readers who wish their news to have a smattering of accuracy could consider altering their purchasing habits.

More than 85 per cent of British Jews think Jeremy Corbyn is antisemitic, according to polling carried out for the JC. A similar percentage believe there are significant levels of antisemitism at all levels of the Labour Party.

The survey, undertaken by polling company Survation between August 12 and September 4, shows that 85.9 per cent of British Jews regard the Labour leader as antisemitic, while just 8.3 per cent believe he is not.

In a recent Survation poll among the general public, 39 per cent said Mr Corbyn was antisemitic.

Among British Jews, only 1.7 per cent believe Prime Minister Theresa May to be antisemitic, with 89.9 per cent saying she is not. Just 6.1 per cent say that Liberal Democrat leader Vince Cable is antisemitic.

It is a strange question to be asked of somebody whom you do not know, do you not think? I do not know Jeremy Corbyn but what I have seen does not lead me to believe that he hates Jews, or anybody, for that matter. Theresa May… as Home Secretary, did some reprehensible things. Does she hate Jews? I don’t know. Vince Cable? He’ll say anything to get people to vote to stay in the E.U. Does he hate Jews? I don’t know. I don’t know that Nigel Farage hates Jews, or Nicola Sturgeon, Ruth Davidson, or any of these people, because I don’t know them. For me to have an opinion like that, based on what…? is utterly ludicrous. What’s the next label going to be? Does Jacob Rees-Mogg hate homosexuals? Does Diane Abbott hate Catholics? Does Vince Cable hate people who voted to leave? Does Theresa May hate disabled people? Does Caroline £ucas hate black people? Does Justine Greening hate children? etc. etc. etc. Our politicians are supposed to there to do a job, not win popularity contests. We’re not going to win a date with them, or put posters of them up on our bedroom walls.

The Ministry for Propaganda would have been proud.

It all adds up to a lorra ‘sheeple’ out there with a lorra voting power! If this innate ‘sheeple’ power can be harnessed by the ‘wrong’ hands (which it almost inevitably is) it can be used as a weapon of ‘mass destruction’: which it almost inevitably is!

What a shame I found it hard to ‘Like’ this piece, which I’m sure is all too sadly, true, and it grieves me, but did give it a Like. What I can’t bring myself to do is Share on facebook, a great pity but I’m sure there will be those who will use it selectively, to gloat! I’ll think further and may come back to Share with a heavy heart.

The JC poll was carried out with 710 replies from a subject group of JC readers. The results are totally pointless.

      That is well worth knowing!

Visit the JC website and you will see that it offers its readers a daily barrage of lies and hatred towards Corbyn and his supporters.

An acquaintance of mine insisted that Jeremy Corbyn was an anti-Semite. I asked why she thought so and she replied that he was anti Israel. I pointed out that he was against the killing of innocent civilians. She went on to say that anyone who was pro Palestinian was anti-Semitic. I then reminded her that Palestinians are also Semites. Check mate!

The trouble with that is, anti-Semitism – as a term – was invented to encapsulate hatred of Jews, and only Jews.
