Poll: If EU court rules on whether MPs can halt Brexit, will it make any difference?

At first I thought this was a pointless effort because MPs simply won’t vote to annul Article 50.

But then it occurred to me that Conservative “rebels”, who disagree with Theresa May’s “Chequers” plan, might find it more palatable, despite what Brexiter voters may think of them.

So, I don’t know; what do you think?

Anti-Brexit campaigners have been given permission to take their case to Europe’s highest court as they seek a ruling on whether it can be halted.

The cross-party group of politicians argue that Article 50 can be revoked if MPs vote to do so.

The Court of Session in Edinburgh had previously rejected their bid to have the case referred to European judges.

But they have now won an appeal, and the European Court of Justice will be asked to give a definitive ruling.

The panel of appeal judges at the Court of Session said the “urgency of the issue” – with the UK due to leave the EU on 29 March – meant its request to the European Court was being done under expedited procedure.

I thought the chap who wrote Article 50 said it could be stopped and that the question is whether we can keep to our previous agreements with the EU, eg all the concessions we’ve gained over the years.

If they rule to stop Brexit just don’t pay the EU a penny and don’t hold elections for MEP’s. There’s more than one way to tell then we voted leave and we’re out whether they like it or not.

given that the EU already stated that the UK can change its mind at any time why is anyone wasting their time and money on a court action that will just say the same thing as was stated by the EU negotiator (I forget his name) at the start of this process.

there is no done deal until it is done.

Since the Referendum when I voted to ‘Remain’ in the EU because I see myself as a European I have not lifted a finger to interfere with or campaign against the ‘democratic result’ in any way no matter how utterly crazy I consider the decision and the potential outcomes: I will simply follow the Labour Party Policy on this one. Unless of course I change my mind at some future point!
