Do you believe the latest tall story about the alleged Skripal poisoners?

Identity crisis: Alexander Petrov? Or Alexander Mishkin?

What do you think?

When Bellingcat claimed to have revealed one of the suspects in the Skripal poisoning as Anatoliy Chepiga, I published the claim on This Site and received a lot of flak for it.

Bellingcat had simply gone into photographs of GRU agents and found one that looked like the suspect, according to many critics.

Well, now that website has claimed it has identified the other man as Alexander Mishkin.

What do you think of that claim?

The name of the second suspect in the Salisbury case is actually Alexander Mishkin, the BBC understands.

The Bellingcat investigative website says the man who travelled under the alias Alexander Petrov is in reality a military doctor working for Russian intelligence, the GRU.

Last month, Bellingcat named the first suspect as Anatoliy Chepiga, a claim rejected by Russia.

Russian ex-spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia were poisoned in March.

The British open-source website said it had identified the suspect using testimonies from people the suspect knew and a scanned copy of his passport.

Bellingcat is obviously an arms-length security services operation. They’ve been propping up the official line on Syria with dodgy “open-source” ( read Jihadi ) for a while. Of course they’re the outlet for this too. It’s a disgrace to our nation they aren’t better at this. Our lazy corporate media have created lazy spooks, how can we hope to influence an internet capable world?

I don’t believe a word from the Bellingcat ‘research group’. It established in July 2014 by Eliot Higgins. Higgins is, as of February 2016, a senior fellow in the Atlantic Council’s Digital Forensic Research Lab and Future Europe Initiative. The Atlantic Council are warmongers. I’m appalled that the Guardian have this on their front page today 🙄

I will believe it if and only if there isn’t a chemical attack in Syria that provokes the USA to attack. With a coalition of puppets trying to provoke WWIII.

I would be willing to believe much of the bellingcat stuff if I could work out how on earth they were able to access all this stuff. I wouldn’t know how to start!!

So how do you access details of the Russian passport system? How do you scroll down the details of GRU agents?

Only, perhaps, with the help of western intelligence agencies. Which immediately makes me suspect everything that bellingcat say.

But, in the end, we need to focus on the everyday reality in this country. That reality is impacted by Russian oligarchs using UK ,especially London, property purchases to launder huge profits made in the former USSR. And all this with the help of UK oligarchs, many of them associated with the Brexit campaign. Which is why the Russian authortities seem to just treat it as a joke. Because there will be no action of any consequence taken against them. A lot of bluster and fake outrage but more heat than light.

We need to focus on the growing integration of Russian, US and UK business circles rather than endless speculation about the IDs and motives of Russian bit-players.

I still question why, if this was a Russian state sponsored execution, given Putin’s history and his associations, the only person to die was not the intended target. This doesn’t make any sense. The K.G.B. is famous for this sort of thing. Granted, the K.G.B. is no longer but seriously, how is it possible that if Sergei Skripal was the target he is still alive? I wold say that this raises more questions than it answers.

Its truly frightening that people do not know what is truth and what isn’t. The BBC have accepted completely the narrative by this Bellingcat group. There has been no criticism at all that the group and this guy Higgins comes from is a shady right wing cabal who could be just manufacturing evidence. The truth is the British authorities would easily be able to recognise known intelligence officers, especially when they have been so publicly honored by the Russian state. MI5 should be made to comment on what Bellingcamp is saying either confirming their claims, denying them or simply saying they do not know. That would be a start because when did Great Britain start using private detective companies to protect our country?

I don’t believe anything which emanates from a Tory government.

Every time they provide new evidence, all that happens is that it contradicts what they said before.

Expert opinion says that this chemical is very easy to make, a matter of mixing two chemicals together, what is very difficult is doing it without it killing yourself.

How did these people survive after placing the chemical somewhere where the Skripals could come into contact with it, which would need heavy duty protective clothing etc? How did they convey it and keep it from killing them in transit. How did the second couple come into contact with the supposed perfume bottle? I mean, how is it likely that a bottle would be carelessly discarded after use, where, and how far from the Skripals. The couple did not live in Salisbury but a village outside.

According to the timed reports on the so called spies, they were tracked down to the Skripals and back so how did they get to this couples area and dump the bottle?

This farce is so unlikely that it doesn’t take an expert to see through it, so why are so many so gullible to believe it.

I have had my doubts about this case from the onset…a lot of things do not add up….plus so many people were in that area…and checking it over without any protection from a substance that is potentially lethal…Yet, the two people who were supposedly poisoned in question did not die…Nothing rings true with this case… If this was a lethal substance then why didnt the unprotected police that were guarding and searching the Skripals house didnt become ill?

Pure theatre….and I don’t believe anything at all from tories, inc Skipal affair. Their story is second rate, full of holes, not at all carefully constructed.

Seriously? High ranking, highly decorated Russian military officers with doctors from ‘intelligence’ arrive in UK country towns on some pretext or other to smear door knobs with lethal substances to eradicate ‘double agents’? But careless disposal of ‘contaminated’ artifacts in public waste-bins results in tragic death of an innocent bystander. For me the story begins with a large credibility deficit and plunges into incredulity territory at approaching the speed of ‘light’! I can’t deal with it right now but I have it filed along with ‘back engineered ufo’s’ and ‘apollo moon landings’, awaiting some sort of credible, corroborating evidence!
