I don’t want to say “I told you so”, but…
Theresa May rebuffed demands for a second EU referendum last nightdespite 700,000 protesters taking to the streets demanding a “people’s vote”.
The Prime Minister rejected calls for a fresh poll 48 hours after placard-waving campaigners swarmed on London urging a re-run.
She also raised the possibility of staying tied to EU rules – including freedom of movement – until 2022.

One demonstration , by itself, is not the means to achieve anything. But, as part of a sustained campaign, a great deal is possible. They said that Apartheid would last for centuries. It fell. They said that the British would never negotiate with the Irish Republicans. They said that the US would never withdraw from Vietnam. But all these things happened , despite the bitter opposition of the establishment, because of sustained campaigns of all kinds.
Apartheid fell because international opinion was against it. The opposition of other nations is what persuaded South African politicians. I’m sure demonstrations helped but it was a political decision.
The British were always negotiating with the Northern Irish republicans.
And the US withdrew from Vietnam because they lost a war.
Your examples aren’t entirely persuasive. And remember, this campaign has a time limit attached.

Let me add some important infos.
1: the date of 29th March 2019 is writen in the constitution.
2: need an act of parliament to change it.
3: article 50 has been launch therefore even if GB want to stay in the EU it needs the yes vote from all 27 other countries and some countries are glad to see the back of GB.
In the latest negociation, it now showing that it’s the EU who want GB out and Theresa May begging to stay.
1. There is no constitution.
2. Yes indeed, Parliament is sovereign.
3. Good point. The ‘Leave’ vote has made it possible for other countries to gain from the UK weakening itself. What would we do in such a position? The same.
4. (Although you didn’t number it) I don’t see Theresa May begging to stay. But I can certainly understand why other EU countries would want to make sure the UK leaves.
She’s ruled it out, but possibly only until the next U-turn.
Well maybe 200,000 nearly 0.05% of those who voted remain, hardly a resounding level of support by Eu collaberators to capitulate and show the world we are weak and malleable
Whatever makes you think there were only 200,000 people there? Please stop making things up – I know it’s a common complaint among Leave supporters.
