Hare-brained Hunt wants to hire business leaders as ambassadors. Remember when ‘free’ schools hired untrained teachers?

Jeremy Hunt: Not so much a foreign secretary – more a cartoon character.

Should we be grateful that Jeremy Hunt didn’t try to bring people in off the street to perform major surgical procedures on the NHS?

Ambassadorial duties are highly-skilled and require a particular character – and business leaders aren’t generally known for having those qualities.

We have only to remember when Michael Gove opened up his vanity “free school” scheme to untrained teachers.

Standards plummeted.

Andrew Adonis has tweeted a lot of sense about this today, and right-thinking people should agree with him:

And consider the implications, related to a current story elsewhere in the news:

This hare-brained scheme seems doomed to fail – and can only cause the UK further embarrassment on an international stage where Brexit has already tarnished us catastrophically.

Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt is looking to hire ambassadors from the UK’s top business leaders.

The Secretary of State is expected to announce the creation of almost new 1,000 diplomatic roles in a speech on Wednesday.

For the first time, some of these jobs will be available to non-civil servants.

Traditionally, British ambassadors have always been civil servants, typically with a long career in the diplomatic service.

These Tories are not only nasty, but they’re in their own selfish, self-centred little world of nastiness.

Indeed, if he applied this to the NHS we’d get:

It comes as no surprise that the Tories have found yet another way to reward their mega rich donors who feed the Tory party with what in reality is just crumbs from their table in order to buy prestige, power and influence.

Will Tory ‘donors’ be expected to ‘contribute’ more for the appointments in the best locations? Will there be a confidential price list?

    Political patronage at its worst.

And just why would these successful business leaders want to do the job? Ask yourself that question and you have the reason why those who did apply would certainly NOT be suitable.

Yes, we are all well aware, whatever political role Jeremy *unt enters into – will be a flucking catastrophic mess — but Nasty Party Tory’s n Labour et al have appointed total d***heads – unqualified to a man / woman – as overseas ambassadors.
And the good ole US of A – appoint torturer in extremis – Grotty Gina Haspel – to head the CIA.

having listened to so called business leaders and vowed not really to make the same mistake again I wonder at the logic a certain big business decided to spend millions on something that would not work, they were told at the outset it would not work, they still spent in the end more than ten million on these things that did not work, after six years at least of running these things they eventually looked at the salvage value, did any of the guys involved in spending the ten million on these get the sack, no they got promoted, looking at the three companies that handle the fitness to work medicals are these the shining examples that hunt thinks we should look up to , if so I am pmsl and even more so will be pmsl when I put a x in anything that is not tory and it’s across the border bed buddies the duppies!!! never trust a tory does not matter what diaper they wear
