American firms should run hospitals for profit after Brexit, says group supported by Trade minister

Sell-off: The report calling for NHS hospitals to be sold off to private American firms, was edited by Eurosceptic Tory MEP Daniel Hannan.

At last the plan to sell off the NHS to private companies is out in the open, after years of being denied.

This think tank, the Initiative for Free Trade, should probably be thanked for allowing naked greed to get the better of tact and giving the game away too soon.

It is an organisation that has the support of International Trade minister Liam Fox, so you can be sure that it will be Conservative Party policy in the near future.

Mr Fox has already come out in support of forcing the people of the United Kingdom to eat chlorinated chicken – another move supported by the IFT.

And it turns out the report was written by another Conservative – Eurosceptic MEP Daniel Hannan.

So there you have it. It seems Brexit is being supported by the Conservatives as the excuse they need to fully privatise the National Health Service – or at least, the profitable parts of it.

They have tricked us into voting away our international reputation, our rights, our economy, and now – it seems – our health service.

Ministers should allow American healthcare companies to compete with the NHS to run hospitals as part of a free-trade pact after Brexit, a think tank recommends.

The Initiative for Free Trade (IFT) said that Britain should also end its ban on imports of products such as chlorinated chicken and accept American environmental and food safety regulations as equivalent to those in the UK.

The moves, it claimed, would help clear the way for a UK-US trade deal that would “rewrite the rules” of global commerce and allow Britain to take advantage of trade freedoms offered by Brexit. The IFT has received backing from Liam Fox, the international trade secretary, and Boris Johnson.

Tony Abbott is also at Initiative For Free Trade. Hannan and Abbott claim to be strong supporters of cross-border trade but are equally strongly opposed to cross-border movement of people.

The nasty Tory Party comes closer and closer to what they have worked for over the last 50 years – the destruction of our precious NHS – and we have let them do it. Shameful.

Do the MPs who are busy destroying everything the NHS stands for, have shares in American health care systems? Have they had any actual experience of American hospitals? Because I have:
In the 1980s, My daughter was visiting friends in New York, with her husband when the stationary car in which she was a back-seat passenger, had the whole of it’s rear-end violently hit by the car behind it and she was pushed into the front. She was in agony and believed that her spine was broken.
They had taken out the best medical insurance they could find but the driver of the ambulance that was called to take her to hospital demanded to be shown proof of that before allowing her into the vehicle, and the same thing happened when they reached the hospital.
She was diagnosed with a dislocated hip joint and the medical staff tried several times to manipulate the leg back into the socket. This was agony for her because nobody had thought to give her analgesics. Eventually, it was decided to x-ray the hip. The resulting image showed that the ball of the femur (upper leg bone), was in three pieces.
The story gets much worse but I won’t bore you with too much of the rest of this fiasco. Suffice to say, that the private insurance company decided that the treatment was costing them too much money, and decided to return her and her husband to England. It paid for a British surgeon to fly over in order to accompany her on a flight to London. An ambulance took them to the nearest airport and demanded payment for the journey, and the ambulance driver refused to take her to the appropriate runway! Instead she was strapped on to a stretcher on a trolley, and wheeled all the way through the airport, where she had to wait for all the other passengers to embark first.
When they reached the appropriate runway, the stretcher was hoisted over the heads of the people carrying it and taken up the front steps and all the way down to the rear of the plane, where the stretcher was positioned over two seats.
It was an entirely different story when she reached Heathrow Airport. The captain asked all the passengers to remain seated while the rear doors were opened – which had not been permitted in America – and my daughter was taken down the rear steps to a waiting Heathrow Ambulance, and driven through customs without stopping, where an ambulance from Bath was waiting to take her to her local hospital, where she was given appropriate surgery and follow-up treatment.

I’ve had personal experience of American hospitals and I promise you that you would not be happy with that system.

Eu procurement regulations the same as the reason for selling off the railways and utilities this is the reason so much of it has already been privatised and labour were as bad as the tories for doing it.

Barry I would preface your statement, New Labour did it! That of course is absolutely true, but under Jeremy Corbyn things are much different, what we also need is more radical left MPs to overshadow the remaining Blairite factions.

Let’s not confuse New Labour with socialism eh? Only one of them puts kindness and people first. (And it’s not ‘New’ Labour..!)
