A stranger accosted me in the street about anti-Semitism accusations. Intimidating?

Last Updated: November 9, 2018By Tags: , , ,

Does anybody think it isn’t suspicious that I should be approached in the street by a complete stranger who addressed me by name and asked about the (fake, let’s remember) anti-Semitism allegations against me – five sleeps before the Labour Party disciplinary hearing that will – we hope – bury the lie for good?

The guy caught me outside a local pub and said he had read about me in an article in the local newspaper, which is curious because the article he mentioned was published in May 2017.

I thought he was going to pull out a PPK and pop me in the street. I’m still mildly surprised that he didn’t.

And then there were his two silent buddies.

A friend of mine who had been talking with them said they had been discussing me for some time before I turned up. He’d made it clear that he had known me almost since he was a baby and I couldn’t possibly be prejudiced against anyone because of what they are (he’s right – if I judge anybody, it’s according to what they do).

He also tried to point out that, since I have no problem with him being gay, he didn’t think I could possibly be an anti-Semite.

I had to sit him down and point out the flaw in that argument.

It wouldn’t be surprising if people were trying to freak me out before the hearing – there’s no evidence against me so an attempt to distract me with concern for my own safety might seem reasonable to them.

Also, they’d probably think it a fair trade-off if I wrote about it on here, making it possible for them to imply that I’m ridiculously paranoid.

Well, if it gets them off my back, let ’em imply away.
