Why is Theresa May taking so much time bringing Brexit back to Parliament?

At the Dispatch Box: We won’t see Theresa May in this place very often – she wants to avoid giving her opponents any chance to stop her pushing the UK over the Brexit cliff-edge.

She doesn’t need to think about her cross-party talks because we’ve already seen they are a nonsense – so why does Theresa May need the maximum amount of time allowed before bringing another Brexit vote in Parliament?

Answer: She doesn’t.

After the greatest loss by a government in Parliamentary history, Mrs May has announced that the vote on her next steps will not take place until January 29. We won’t even know what those steps are until Monday (January 21).

MPs had expected the vote to happen early next week, shortly after Mrs May has to announce her plans, in order to allow more time for the government to act on the results.

Let’s face it – the results of Mrs May’s efforts up to now do not bode well for the future!

Whatever Mrs May proposes – and it seems we can only expect more of the same old slop – Jeremy Corbyn will likely table an amendment, setting out his alternative Brexit vision. This should arouse great interest among the Tory-supporting mass media that have spent the last few years claiming he doesn’t have one, in spite of the facts.

There may also be one from Tory Brexiteers seeking to banish the hated “Irish backstop” from Ms May’s withdrawal agreement, and two further motions facilitating a new referendum may also excite great interest.

To me, it seems ever more clear that Mrs May is steering the UK over a cliff-edge, most probably out of spite. She wants to be the prime minister who delivered Brexit to the British people – whether we want it or not.

But she is determined to force a Brexit on terms that will profit her (and to Hell with the rest of us) – or on the worst possible terms for everybody.

That is not the action of a responsible national leader.

What ever she discusses will probably fail getting past the EU globalists who believe they have done enough to leverage the UK to stay in their Club. They will just keep saying NO. EU and the Cons hope the UK media has also done enough scare mongering to ensure another peoples votes will ensure the Uk will fall neatly back into line and do as they are told. The vote is the key get out of jail card for them all. Hopefully Italy will not spoil their party by their financial thoughts and actions thus knocking the EU out of existence and the UK little reason to join a busted Club.

She has to find some way of making her collussion with the Eu to capitulate and lock us in look more palatable than the current offering.

Trouble is, the tories can’t get rid of her now. They’re stuck with her, after many of them voted her not good enough for them, but somehow good enough for the country. And since they’re stuck with her, they’re also stuck with all the problems she has caused.

As I see it, the only way out of this mess is a GE. In any case, whatever the solution, May cannot be a part of it. SHE is the cause of it.
