Nissan to abandon UK X-Trail manufacturing plans because of Brexit – claim

Last Updated: February 2, 2019By Tags: , , , , , , ,

Where are those blue-skyers who keep saying there’s nothing to worry about and the UK won’t lose any business because of Brexit?

I’d like to see how they explain this away.

Japanese car-maker Nissan is set to abandon its plans to build its X-Trail model at its Sunderland plant, according to reports.

The company is said to have performed a U-turn on its intention to build the car in the northeast less than two months before Britain is set to leave the European Union, amid increased Brexit uncertainty.

Hmm Sunderland? Remind me. Didn’t Sunderland vote strongly for leave?

I always thought that many Tory voters voted for their favourite Party knowing full-well that other British citizens would suffer because of it. And that was the POINT. People vote Tory to punish others of whom they disapprove, such as the less well-off or ethnic minorities or immigrants or gays etc.

But the Brexit vote is turning out to be even more of a Tory vote than we thought. The damage being done to the economy by Brexit is clear to all. Yet there seems to be a stubborn group of voters who either deny what faces them, or even dismiss its seriousness. Aren’t these the Tories who vote to deliberately inflict punishment on those they see as of lesser value to themselves? So that appeals to their concern, or rationality, fall on deaf ears. Inflicting pain on the lazy, good-for-nothing British workers is STILL their main aim!

Agree totally “Growing Flame”. Tories are specialists in division, confrontation and punishing we lesser mortals (including many of those who actually vote Tory).

The biggest problem is the uncertainty that is being cause by Parilament’s handling of the situation, not Brexit itself. If businesses knew what to plan for, it would be easier for them however since everything is still up in the air, it is hardly surprising. Businesses have been saying for… well, time, that they need to know what is going on. Parliament pulling every-which-way has really not helped and the fact that M.P.s still can’t get their act together is not going to improve the situation any time soon.
