Honda to close Swindon factory in 2022. The decision is said to be Brexit-related
It seems workers at Honda’s Swindon factory are furious with the Conservative government over their cack-handed handling of Brexit.
And who can blame them? Brexit is being blamed for the decision to close the factory and axe 3,500 jobs – albeit one that won’t happen until 2022.

Now consider this worker’s appraisal of the Conservative government’s role in this disaster:

He is absolutely correct.
This is just the latest in a series of Brexit-related closures, redundancies and emigrations. It seems certain there will be many more.
And the more that happen, the more people will come to the same conclusion as the Honda worker, above – until we reach a tipping-point.
After that, I wouldn’t give a farthing for any Conservative MP’s electoral future. Would you?

Swindon at town with two Tory MP’s I wonder how many of the soon to be ex-Honda employees voted for them. Hopefully both of them will be unemployed after the next GE.
The only good thing which may come from the stupidity and the self-inflicted harm of Brexit is the end of the Tory Party.

Hmm… neither can I. I’ll try to track it down.
Think this was on an earlier blog. If it is the one I have found it refers to an article in a Swindon Newspaper which, looking at Google, has been publishing contradictory pieces about Honda and the UK for several years. I prefer to accept the words of the Company and the MP who has met with them.
Thanks to total Tory incompetence, only one option is left open after all others have been closed: a hard Brexit.
Yet until the Tory party, or indeed everyone else, stops talking fan fiction about the Brexit that they’d rather have over this rapidly approaching deadlocked reality, thanks in part to Teresa May’s stalling tactics, and start being straight with us about what’s really coming up, and soon, the confusion and uncertainty will continue.

Certainly not.
Honda have stated clearly closing the factories in Swindon and Turkey have nothing whatsoever to do with our voting to leave the eu. The eu just signed a Tariff free deal with Japan in regard to vehicles, Honda had excess production in Japan, The eu has draconian laws regarding Diesel engines, Honda are moving to electric power, Add Hondas needs and the eu interventions and you have a perfect storm loss of jobs in Swindon and Turkey.

The Honda spokesman said that it wasn’t to do with Br’exit. As for incompetence, the whole of Parliament is guilty of that, having not planned for anything, at any stage of the process, from the Conservative General Election to the Referendum Bill, to the triggering of Article 50 and everything that has happened since. The uncertainty into which we have been thrown by this bunch of incompetents, fighting for the last nearly 3 years, about issues that should have been resolved before the Referendum was even put to us, has cause the greatest harm. I’ve said it before and ‘ll say it again, a plague o’ both Houses! People can blame who they like but they are ALL to blame! Those M.P.s who voted to leave, those who voted to remain and and everyone in between!
