People are getting very angry over Caroline Johnson’s ‘Marxist anti-Semite’ comment

Tory MP Dr Caroline Johnson deliberately kicked over a can of worms when she stood up to criticise Theresa May for reaching out to Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour for help with Brexit.

Joining a number of her fellow Tory backbenchers, she participated in a pile-on that seemed co-ordinated, owing to her description of Mr Corbyn as a “Marxist” – as used by resigning minister Nigel Adams, and echoed by others including Jacob Rees-Mogg and several other MPs, during Prime Minister’s Questions.

But it was her description of Mr Corbyn as an “anti-Semite” – in defiance of the facts – that earned her the enmity of the general public.

She said: “If it comes to the point when we have to balance the risk of a no-deal Brexit versus the risk of letting down the country and ushering in a Marxist, antisemite-led Government, what does she think at that point is the lowest risk?”

I’m sure it’s perfectly possible for some people to balance Marxism with anti-Semitism – there are strange people in the world, after all.

But we know that Jeremy Corbyn isn’t anti-Semitic because so many efforts to pin that accusation on him have failed.

That’s the reason so many people have been incensed by the claim.

People like Stephen Glover of the Daily Heil help to stoke these myths for political and/or commercial gain.
Today he wrote “Corbyn is neither moderate nor sensible. He is an extremist who has given succour to terrorists in Northern Ireland and the Middle East”

How is he allowed to get away with this?

Lets be honest she only said what alot of people think.

She was lying and she knew it. In politics, Mr Corbyn is of the centre-left, and he is staunchly opposed to any discrimination based on ethnicity or religion.

Colin, a lot of people are incapable of thinking, that’s the problem, but MPs and Doctors should know better.

That people think it doesn’t make it true. By the way, it’s “a lot.”

No, she was being allowed to say, what she wants people to believe!

If she is so confident, then she should repeat these remarks outside the chamber where she will not be protected by parliamentary privilege and can thus be sued.

    Michael Fallon did that once:
