Chakrabarti’s plea to the Jewish Labour Movement – backstabbing Corbyn and Palestine?

Questionable: Baroness Chakrabarti’s plea to the Jewish Labour Movement contained some highly dodgy implications.

I am deeply disturbed by the words of Shami Chakrabarti on Sky’s Sophy Ridge politics show today (April 7).

It seems a new, co-ordinated campaign of disinformation linking Jeremy Corbyn with anti-Semitism has been launched, starting with a ‘fake news’ smear piece in The Sunday Times, and continuing with news coverage on the mainstream media throughout the day.

It’s all leading up to the annual general meeting of the Jewish Labour Movement, when members (who may not be either Jewish or part of the Labour Party) will be asked to vote on a motion of ‘no confidence’ in Jeremy Corbyn because of his handling of anti-Semitism accusations against party members (many of which have been shown to be fake).

They may decide to disaffiliate from Labour on the basis of this disinformation.

Baroness Chakrabarti, speaking on the Sophy Ridge show, appealed for the JLM not to disaffiliate.

She said: “My plea to the Jewish Labour Movement is to stay in the Labour movement and to tackle racism together, not to personalise it and make it about Jeremy Corbyn, because he is one person and he won’t be leader forever.”

What is she saying, exactly?

That we all know Labour isn’t a harbour for anti-Semitism?

That the JLM has another reason for hating Mr Corbyn – possibly his desire for a peaceful resolution to the Israel/Palestine question?

That once he is gone, Labour can get back to supporting Israel’s slow genocide of Palestinians?

Is that what she’s saying?

If so, that’s despicable.

Baroness Chakrabarti needs to clarify her words immediately.

UPDATE: It seems Baroness Chakrabarti’s plea fell on deaf ears. Nobody should be surprised.

Apparently, after supporting the motion of ‘no confidence’ in Mr Corbyn, Jewish Labour Movement members are considering whether to disaffiliate.

Considering that the Sky News report quoted the falsehoods in today’s Sunday Times lead as an apparent reason for the vote – after Labour denied that there was any truth in its claims – the party should act pre-emptively and expel the Jewish Labour Movement. Its activities and spokespeople attempt to bring the Labour Party into disrepute and there is no place in any political organisation for an affiliate that works to bring it down from the inside.

Enough is enough.

Capitulation obviously isn’t working so why does the Labour Party think that yet more capitulation will improve the situation.

Chakrabarti is implying that Corbyn is to blame for alleged antisemitism within the Labour party, which is absolute nonsense and irresponsible of her.

  3. Cannot Stand Her, Never Could. Weak Inspid spineless. Would fight hard for pedophiles and rapists to have a right to their say as freedom of speech, then amazingly has a problem with anti other grown up people discrimination. Also Libert etc and Election Reform Society stood b the right for Labour to take away right to vote on false premis and defamation and gleefully told everyone they had no rights as Labour a private club.

Stupid ill thought out comment by CHakrabarti , it appears to accept blame for what the JLM politically driven comment accuses Corbyn of , it alienates the Palestinian members in Labour not to mention the majority of non Jewish members who like myself are heartily sick of this Zionists organisations false AS . They should be dis affiliated immediately .
The JVL IMO speaks with a more reason non politically driven voice , that is the organisation that should be affiliated to Labour esp as you must be a Labour PArty member to join the JVL and you don’t need to be anything to do whatsoever with Labour and you can join the JLM.
For all we know the JLM could be full of right wing fascists , Tories , and anything else .
Publish the evidence JLM to support your claim or STFU and go.
NO evidence , no facts , just rants from a hostile organisation .

I totally agree with Mike, expel JLM from the party (even though Gordon Brown is now a member!) , but more importantly take immediate legal action against all those who keep peddling these lies, from organisations like the Sunday Times , to individuals like Sophy Ridge! It is the only way that the ordinary man in the street will believe that the lies are just that, lies, if no legal action is taken then a lot of people will say ” it must be true because otherwise the Labour Party would take them to court” believe me I hear this all the time from mail and sun readers !!

Being Jewish on my fathers side and having lived in The U.K. for over 30 years I think having antisemitic attached to your name; probably garners as many votes as it loses.

That is a grim opinion, and I don’t agree with it.
When I was accused of anti-Semitism and my Labour Party membership suspended, this website lost popularity.
When I won my first victory against the newspapers that had falsely claimed I was an anti-Semite, my hit count increased threefold.
I think an accusation of anti-Semitism can be extremely harmful, based on personal experience.
