Was Huawei contract a pay-off for former Conservative advisors?

Well, well, well… Huawei.

I didn’t know what to make of it when the row broke out over a leaked report saying Huawei was being contracted to help build the UK’s 5G communications network, despite concerns over national security.

Concerns over whether spyware would be inserted into the network had been commonplace in advance of the decision and it seemed odd to me that the Conservative government would ignore those concerns.

The possibility that this was the result of mischief by leading Tories who saw the issue as a tool to win points in a future leadership race seemed likely.

I mentioned this on Twitter last week:

Another user added a new perspective:

Now I’m hearing something else:

Could this be the reason the Conservatives are awarding a contract to Huawei – that they are giving a financial boost to former advisors?

It will be interesting to see whether the mainstream media ever allow this to see the light of day.

Not too convinced by the fuss about Huawei. They’ve already supplied telecom infrastructure and are part of the whole BT set up. It’s more than a little interesting that their mobile phones are seen as superior to Apple iPhone and much cheaper with a far better camera I’m told.
I hate to be a conspiracy theorist but there is a definite threat to the dominance of Apple simply because of cost and efficiency which hasn’t gone down well I The US.

Just saying. This is based solely on hearsay from people who know more about this subject than I do. Make of it what you will.

There might be another angle to this. We know the Chinese government censors the internet in China so presumably Huawei has a lot of knowledge about doing so. Wouldn’t the Tories just love to censor the internet here?

as per my FB post when i fwd’ed this (tho i’ll be marginally less, er… “forthright” on your blog i.e. asterisked out):

“nowt surprises me WHATSOEVER, with this bunch of corrupt ****s… aka current UK gov!

ffs, even their Tory BBC lackies on Panorama, once they’d voiced their concerns to the TOP techies in the security biz, in turn voiced their concerns re SERIOUS security flaws in Huawei’s software.

    work it out for yourself!!!

Mmm, I would suspect certain Brexit supporters who want a trade deal with the USA, behind the leaks.
Huawei, have been involved in the UK telecoms market for over 10 years, they provide handsets for the consumer market and providing BT with infrastructure without much of a whisper.
Seems the White House and it’s dislike of competition to its own overpriced tech i.e Apple and Google is behind the Huawei leaks.

I heard that the yanks are miffed because Huawei didn’t leave a back door for the US spooks to check in! Hahahaha!

Strangely enough,I just bought a mid-range one for a song (lovely machine) and I don’t think it’s spying on me. ‘Reason being? Because it’s switched off all the time, and the battery hasn’t dropped below 100% – so it can’t be turning itself on, otherwise the battery would drop! Thank you China.
