Nursing body dealt fairly with HARDLY ANY PIP assessment complaints, says regulator

Last Updated: May 4, 2019By

This is damning:

A regulator has found widespread mishandling by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) of complaints it has received about the way nurses working for government contractors have carried out disability benefit assessments.

In an annual review of the NMC, the Professional Standards Authority (PSA) found that nearly every one of the 28 complaint cases it examined in detail showed potential for undermining public confidence in its work.

It said NMC’s failure to deal fairly with complaints about nurses carrying out personal independence payment (PIP) assessments had “significant implications” for the system that decides whether nurses are “fit to practise”.

And it said these failings had had “a significant impact on the fairness, transparency and focus on public protection” of NMC’s fitness to practise system.

Even worse is the dismissal of the findings by NMC boss Andrea Sutcliffe:

Andrea Sutcliffe (pictured), NMC’s chief executive, said in a statement: “I’m sorry that our approach to a small number of PIP related cases fell short of what is expected.”

A “small number” of cases? If that’s how she describes the overwhelming majority of those considered then no wonder the NMC has a problem.

It is further damning evidence that the Personal Independence Payment assessment system is unfit to be used on any human being.

And that is further damning evidence that the Conservative government is unfit to oversee the health concerns of any UK citizen.

Been there done that a few times complaining to the nurses Union hmmmm they’d rather have nurses dues than attack their members the only thing I ever had was a black mark against a nurse were they had to get no other complaints against them just a lip service all part of their following orders it seems has a nurse one would have thought wouldn’t behave in a callous manour

They claim that the nurses although needing a nurse qualification to do the jib are not working as nurses so they can’t prosecute them.
