Is Umunna really planning to stand for the Lib Dems in his SAFE LABOUR constituency?
Just when the Liberal Democrats thought they were electable again, Chuka Umunna looks set to join them.
That’ll mess things up. According to the Mail – so an unreliable source – he wants to represent the Party of Remain in Streatham, his current constituency, which has a “safe” Labour seat but voted very strongly to remain in the EU in 2016.
In the spirit of giving news stories all the space they deserve… that is all.

Maybe he thinks Labour will tempt him back with the fear he would retain his seat, he really is that arrogant, now he has left the CHUKa’s in the “capable” hands of sourberry.

He’s a fly-by-night. I wouldn’t have confidence in him, if he were standing in my constituency! He has already stood for £abour, as an independent and for “Change U.K., in how long? Now he wants to join the £iberal Democrats? If they had any sense, they wouldn’t accept him. He has proven himself, beyond doubt, to be unreliable, fickle, unfaithful, inconstant. unstable. Which Party will he join next month?
He switched. He has only ever stood for Labour. Apart from that, I agree.
Okay, he STOOD for £abour but has been £abour, Independent and Change U.K. in as many months.
He was arrogant enough to think that the popularity he had in Labour was PERSONAL popularity which would equate to him being able to lead a new party of Tory left wing and Labour right wing to victory.
Maybe he’s too young to remember the SDP back in the 80s and how THAT ended. But that had more than one former government cabinet minister and actually got some seats at the GE before fading into nothing and having to join with the Liberal Party to become LibDems. This SHOULD have settled whether Labour was left or right wing, it SHOULD be left but Blair then dragged the party to the right when it had a crisis of confidence over electability. We then suffered a party that decided policy by focus group rather than trying to persuade the public that it’s policies were right for them. Power put before principle.
Hopefully Corbyn can keep the party on track and ensure that the younger voters remain engaged. Whilst simultaneously annoying the Tories who claim he is a Marxist when in fact he is a Moderate in true Labour terms.
Hopefully the man will have the good grace to retire from politics now, although I doubt it…
