Did Downing Street block Boris Johnson from receiving intelligence? What difference would it have made?

Boris Johnson: Why would anybody consider it unwise to hand sensitive intelligence information to this man, pictured as he is in one of his more rational moments?

This is one of the rare occasions I find myself in agreement with Boris Johnson.

The Graun‘s headline for this was Boris Johnson denies No 10 tried to block his access to intelligence and I may not be alone in doubting that Mr Johnson has ever had access to intelligence of any kind at all.

Boris Johnson has hit out at claims that Downing Street sought to restrict his access to some sensitive intelligence information when he became foreign secretary in mid-2016.

Rumours have circulated … that Johnson’s access to intelligence briefings was restricted during his time as foreign secretary, an interesting claim given that the role includes responsibility for MI6 and GCHQ.

The BBC report said that in 2016 Downing Street did not want Johnson to be shown a category of sensitive secret intelligence.

Confirmation, if it were needed, of just how unsuitable for any public office this overfed Tory slob is.

No wonder he was so ineffective as Foreign Secretary, but then, could he ever be effective at anything? Furthermore, the guy is not a British citizen – he’s a Russo-Turk with U.S. citizenship, so we should expect that he would not see information of vital national importance. Do we really want Putin and Trump knowing our secrets? The only remaining question is where should we kick his fat ass – the US, Russia or Turkey?
