After lying about Corbyn in the #EUreferendum campaign, where was Jo Swinson during #StopTheCoup? ON HOLIDAY.

This is damning.

Did you notice, during social media coverage of yesterday’s (August 31) #StopTheCoup demonstrations, that took place across the whole of the United Kingdom and involved hundreds of thousands, if not more than a million people, that some used the hashtag #WheresJoSwinson?

Well, now we know.

She was on holiday.

And, as some say, the optics are really bad because of her lie about Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn in the EU referendum:

Would you like it from another source?

And one more:

Now, there’s nothing wrong with going on holibobs every now and then (if you can afford it these days!) but some times are inappropriate.

MPs have just had a lengthy summer break. As leader of the Liberal Democrats, Ms Swinson knew that the result of the Conservative leadership election was likely to put someone in charge who would make changes that require a concerted show of opposition from, well, the Opposition.

But when the moment came, she was nowhere to be seen.

What a hypocrite. Liberal Democrats must be cringing with humiliation.

To be honest, I don’t think Swinson was being literal when she said Corbyn was ‘on holiday’, I think she was just trying to say he was noticeable-by-absence. That is still completely untrue though, and her own absence yesterday has completely undermined the last lingering shred of credibility she had left.

Surely it should read incite a coup, against the legitimate government ?

I don’t know how you got that pic of Jeremy Corbyn with only red flags showing, I was present and there were many, many saltires flying – even a few SNP banners. Its Glasgow’s George (Freedom) Square, its just not feasible that an anti-Tory demo like that would not have saltires. Poor show trying to present an unrealistic image as a ‘news’ photo. And completely unnecessary – everyone was in agreement who was there. Can we have more honesty please – no more Tory-type tricks.

It’s the picture Skwawkbox used, obviously – and a genuine image from the event. You may not like it, but it is an accurate representation, even if no saltires are visible.

I’m not being dishonest and neither was Skwawkbox. It seems you might need to reconsider your own position.

Can’t stand Swinson or most of the rest of the Lib Dem MPs after the way they helped push the disabled, ill and poor into poverty , hunger, homelessness and suicide in the Coalition government, but this seems to have only twitter posts as evidence of her being on holiday at the moment? Someone claiming something on twitter and it actually happening aren’t always the same thing at all. And repeating stuff if it turns out not to be true only damages our credibility when we’re pointing to things that definitely have happened.

Did Jo Swinson have any credibility? She has become like Tony Blair and George W. Bush, to me; when she opens her mouth, I switch off and I don’t mean figuratively. She has nothing to say that I want to hear. She is an hypocrite of the highest order and has lost authority to speak on anything of importance, especially when it comes to criticising people’s integrity, or democracy. She needs to be quiet, now.

Being of a certain age I am constantly reminded of the Sex Pistols songs of 40+ years ago – God Save the Queen, and now Holidays in the Sun, what next? Anarchy in the UK?
