Volunteers needed – to post ‘cost of NHS privatisation’ leaflets to voters

An example of the mock health bill campaigners have prepared.

A campaign to show the consequences of the Tory strategy to sell off the National Health Service by the backdoor needs volunteers.

The plan is to post mock healthcare bills with real costs and figures through doors in marginal constituencies, with a clear message of warning over the NHS – to show the cost of a privatised health service to members of the public.

Although organisers will post out to any marginal constituency, they are specifically looking for volunteers in seats with less than a 500-vote majority. Some of these areas are Tory-held, others are where the Conservatives could easily make gains.

So if you live in these constituencies or nearby and don’t mind travelling, then please get in touch via this Facebook page: Perth and North Perthshire, Kensington, Dudley North, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Crewe and Nantwich, Canterbury, Barrow and Furness, Keighley, Lanark and Hamilton East Ashfield, Southampton Itchen, Pudsey, Hastings and Rye, Chipping Barnet, Thurrock, Preseli Pembrokeshire, Stirling.

The campaign will launch in less than two weeks – in Trafford, which is where the first NHS hospital was opened. It is a Tory marginal.

Cash is still needed to fund the initiative. The initial target of £550 will pay for the printing of 50,000 mock bills, with a ‘stretch’ target of £1,100 to print 100,000 leaflets.

I can give a real example. I have an implanted cardioverter/defibrillator that was fitted in 2015, device cost at that time: £20,000. The hospital that fitted my device is also a BUPA centre. The cost of the very same top-of-the-range device I’ve got, fitted privately: a cool £50,000 including three hours surgery, under local anaesthesia. That wasn’t an estimate. that was the actual cost.

What worries me is that in four years my ICD’s battery will expire and I’ll need a replacement. Will we still have the free-at-point-of-use health service we currently enjoy, or will that spoof NHS Inc. bill shown above become a horrifying reality?

And yes, I will be voting Labour especially as my constituency is a Labour marginal.

Problem: The Tories will state rightly the NHS will still be free at the point of need.

The point is the **taxpayer** will be paying more and it will be hidden

What you will notice is the number of treatments become unavailable or with longer waiting as is already happening

Do you have to live in a marginal constituency to post letters? I’d love to volunteer. I’ll check the LP website, unless it’s being run from somewhere else? .

No, it’s by The Prole Star. Look it up on Facebook. But it isn’t happening here in B&R unless they get considerably more funding.
