If you hate the Universal Credit propaganda doco, you’ll abhore the BBC with this woman in charge

Not my image: Somebody else made this – indicating that concerns over the BBC’s claim to impartiality are well-founded.

The Tories probably couldn’t find a better woman than Elisabeth Murdoch to run the BBC – if they want to run it into the ground.

If you think the current documentary series on Universal Credit is despicable propaganda for the Conservatives, what will Rupert Murdoch’s daughter devise, in order to put you off the corporation and make it ripe for removal?

She has all the qualities required by Downing Street, according to iNews – and that in itself should put the rest of us off.

Oh, she’s put distance between herself and the rest of her family, and she has spoken up in support of the licence fee that the Tories are currently so hot to scrap…

But This Writer hears alarm bells when the same article suggests that her name alone would give her significant negotiating powers when negotiating the BBC’s future with Boris Johnson and Dominic Cummings.

Other choices are available. But what are their politics? And if the BBC is filled with slavish Tories, what hope can we have that it will ever regain any kind of reputation for impartiality (not that this was anything more than a reputation in the first place)?

Come to think of it, Ofcom was investigating the BBC’s claim to impartiality – what happened to that?

It seems the BBC’s future is looking very bleak indeed.

If I were a betting man, I’d say we can expect a flood of pro-Tory bilge, an exodus of viewers, the swift removal of the licence fee under the pretense that the service is failing and a slow dwindling to oblivion.

Is that what you want for your public service broadcaster?

Because that’s the point: the BBC is yours.

You pay for it. You should have a say in what it does.

Why don’t you?

not really I did not vote for it or the tory, when it goes wrong this time the tory can get out of it, there policy, this particurly is gonna cost them, lack of volunteers, people giving up goodwill, they get the lot, then when tory boy goes round pointing the blame, I got a shovel they can repair to dig themselves out of there ditch

Another reason to scrap the licence fee, to much Murdoch influence now, this will be just another propaganda move

You might want something that threatens people with criminals records, and that protects and gives succour to paedophiles, I Don’t!!

If the channel dies then so be it,!!!

But the things you mention happened because of the people who were allowed to be part of the BBC at the time. The principle of a publicly-funded broadcaster with a remit to “inform, educate, entertain” is good, but is under threat due to the vanity and greed of a few very rich people. Try to look beyond what the tabloids want you to obsess about, and ask yourself who would benefit. It wouldn’t be you!

I probably would benefit, if it hadn’t become threatening, a tory mouthpiece and a place of sleaze where paedophiles can flourish. I will Never forgive or forget what people like Esther Rancid didn’t report! Being fearful for her career was No excuse!!! I don’t care how the BBC tries to change it will Never make amends for ruining people’s lives!!!
