Coronavirus: NHS staff have to hide ID amid bids to steal their identity for free food and drink

This is sickening. How low can people go?

It’s possible to blame Tory policies that pushed millions of people below the breadline before the coronavirus crisis struck.

But it’s also entirely possible that these are just extremely selfish people who are seeing others getting something they’re not and want it for themselves.

Either way, it is not acceptable. NHS staff are risking their own lives to help people with the virus and this is a repulsive way to pay them back.

NHS staff are being targeted by muggers trying to steal their identity badges so they can use them to obtain the free food and drinks being offered to doctors and nurses tackling coronavirus.

Health service bosses are so concerned by a spate of incidents that they are preparing to warn all hospital staff to hide their NHS lanyards when they are arriving at or leaving work.

that is sooo disgusting. i have even stopped trying to get my normal weeks online shopping for the past 2 weeks. in the hope that when what i have got here is close to running out i will be able to get a slot. do an order , get through check out once again and hopefully get most of what is on my order. i use about 6 litres of milk per week 4 big trays of dog food for my dog plus a few dog treats … 2-3 packs of cooked meats. tomatoes, butter/ porridge sachets 7 of those.around 30-35 cans of pepsi-max(its nearly all i drink apart from about 2-3 bottles of soda water per week. i keep stewing meat n veggies in to make a stew. but rest of my meals are frozen ready ones from elsewhere. NOT a supermarket. the other things are washing up liquid/loo rolls/(1 x 12 roll pack per week) sweetener couple of soups, seeded bread, bananas. grapes apart from cleaning materials and other household stuff. not a lot. but cant carry it home specially not the heavier items. i now have to hope i can get someone to get it for me if i cant get online. i dare not try to go get it myself. unfortunately 2 of those willing to get me stuff are now self isolating. so now ill have to rely on strangers/but our village facebook site have got people on there willing to help. so, although hoping they all keep well and can still do it as time goes on i am hoping n praying that it wont be that long before i can once again build my stock up. as before. 3 of everything i use. the systems worked in the past n will again./ when i use an item it goes down on the next shopping list for when i can do an online shop or go in person.(if my legs havent given up on me by then)

Whenever there is a crisis opportunists will always exploit this and as evidenced during the second world war it was not a ‘case of we are all in it together’ but criminals looting homes bombed; men sexually preying on women during the air raids and blackouts; black marketeers profiting by selling goods.

So am not surprised criminals are targeting NHS workers. So much for ‘we are all in it together!’
