Coronavirus may have infected 1.7 million Brits – under the Health Secretary’s nose
Who knows how many of us caught the coronavirus while Matt Hancock was feeding us drivel about his government being prepared for it?
Remember when our Health Secretary, Matt Hancock said “The Chief Medical Officer has revised the risk to the UK population from ‘very low’ to ‘low'”?
It was way back on January 23. He added: “While there is an increased likelihood that cases may arise in this country, we are well-prepared and well-equipped to deal with them.”

I mention this because it seems that nearly two million of us may have been infected with the disease before Mr Hancock’s Tory government could be bothered to do anything about it.

NHS figures suggest more than 1.7 million Brits may already have contracted coronavirus.
Since March 18, a total of 1,496,651 people registered only symptoms in line with Covid-19, while almost a quarter of a million were assessed as potential patients via 111 and 999 calls.
Though, it is believed some people could have used numerous channels to report feeling unwell, which would skew the accuracy of the figures.
And in the meantime we have discovered that, far from being “well-prepared and well-equipped”, the Tories had
- deliberately failed to order personal protective equipment (PPE)
- hidden the fact that they did not have enough ventilators
- not provided facilities to test people for the virus.
In other words, Mr Hancock’s statement in January was completely wrong.
And yet, according to opinion polls, the Tories are more popular than they have been in years – for their failure to protect the British public.
Propaganda rules. As the Nazis said, repeat a lie loud enough and long enough and people will believe it.
