Coronavirus: save your sympathy – Boris Johnson won’t be the prime minister who died of stupidity

Johnson: He wasn’t looking well at this prime ministerial broadcast last month – but you bet he’s getting the best possible treatment.

Boris Johnson’s health has deteriorated to the point where he has been moved to intensive care at a National Health Service hospital.

He experienced breathing difficulties while undergoing tests and was given oxygen.

And suddenly there’s an outpouring of sympathy for him. Twitter hashtags like #PrayForBoris and #GetWellBoris are top-trending.

Why?

He’s the prime minister of the United Kingdom. He’s getting the best treatment that the taxpayer can buy – unlike older and more vulnerable people who have been told to sign away their right to treatment and wait for death.

Johnson won’t be the prime minister who died of stupidity.

Don’t kid yourself – that’s what it would be if the coronavirus took him. He chose to shake hands with all those Covid-19 patients. Did he wash his hands afterwards?

He chose to ignore his own rules on social distancing.

And of course, he chose to put off the UK’s lockdown until almost catastrophically late after the pandemic arrived in the UK.

So save your sympathy.

I may be wrong about this – because the virus is unpredictable. If I am, I will apologise profusely.

But right now I have far more sympathy for the people who have died, and who are being told to die, than for a government minister who ignored his own rules.

Absolutely agree with you. I’m not wishing for his death, but I am sorta ‘meh’ about it, cos he’s bought it on himself. Also his government is responsible for a lot of deaths so it’s like forgive me if my heart ain’t bleeding.

I certainly won’t be shedding a tear for that baffoon…look at all the deaths his government have caused over 10 years of Tory rule.

agree wholeheartedly with you all. you dont mess with things like this. like fleas, these viruses /bugs whatever you wish to call them , have the ability to reproduce thousands of times in a short time. you do not play about with them. you stamp on em as soon as possible. he and his govt sat on their backsides… far too long… possibly thinking.. ohhhhh this is good. WEEEEEEE dont have to lift a finger.this thing will do the job for us. lets not even give any advice to the “plebs”. one way to get rid of the old/disabled/poor. and anyone else “sponging ” off the state.

Sky News are referring to him as OUR Prime Minister, like he’s the Queen or something! Well I didn’t vote for him. Somehow, after this. I think under-funding of the NHS will be a thing of the past…

Yes, people falling over each other to gush. A lot of ‘virtue signalling’ going on, especially from Labour MPs!

Will Boris die? Nah, he is a very rich man. He can afford very expensive private health care!

I don’t like Boris. But, he is human just like all of us.

Don’t worry he will be in the private unit of the hospital (no doubt for “security reasons” and will have the best care that money can buy, And no, I wouldn’t want him to die, we don’t want him to be made a martyr.

The Tories continue to fail to provide adequate protective wear to front-line workers in the NHS and elsewhere. The government is also still allowing international travellers from known hotspots to enter the country with no checks and then freely travel onward on public transport.

Totally with you on this – I don’t wish ill on anyone but if anyone is stupid enough to ignore (their own) guidance it’s their own fault. I note that he is being treated in an NHS hospital – probably by people who he cheered and clapped about NOT giving a payrise. They are saints to treat him tbh.

It might be an NHS hospital, but it has a private section. He won’t be with the general public, he will have a private room all to himself.
