Care workers tell Matt Hancock what to do with his ‘badge of honour’

It was another of the empty gestures for which Boris Johnson’s Tory government is becoming justly infamous during the coronavirus lockdown.

In the absence of any genuine offer to improve services, the Health and Social Care Secretary [italics mine] Matt Hancock has offered carers… a badge.

And they have wasted no time telling him where to put it:

Shove it up your…: this is satire, of course. Carers and health workers haven’t really inserted Matt Hancock’s new ‘Care’ badge up his rectum. But you can bet they’d like to.

Hancock had tried to sell this particular pup to us by saying, “This badge will be a badge of honour in a very real sense, allowing social care staff proudly and publicly to identify themselves, just like NHS staff do with that famous blue and white logo.

“I know that many businesses will want to offer the same recognition and benefits as they do wonderfully to the NHS.”

What businesses? Has he negotiated anything? No? That’s an empty statement, then.

And why would carers want to identify in the same way as the NHS, when under the Tories the NHS has been a target for de-funding, privatisation and poor service?

The coronavirus crisis in the UK has been partly fuelled by the fact that, despite having been warned four years ago that the NHS would not be able to cope with a pandemic outbreak, the Tories point-blank refused to take the steps necessary to protect the population.

Their preference was to let hundreds of thousands of us die instead.

Now, instead of providing any solid support for carers, Hancock is offering them nothing more than a badge.

You can understand why they don’t care for it.

Carers while this lot have given these a very hard time under their rule they take the biscuit by offering a badge crikey it would have been better that they left the carers alone to get on with their job of looking after

The arrogance and contempt Matt Hancock and his male master dictator boris show towards care workers is staggering! Why didn’t Hancock demand anyone wanting this ‘tin pot badge’ pay £10 which would go into the fascist tory coffers!

This is what the vile fascist tories think of low paid predominantly female care workers – ‘your worth is just a little cheap tin badge!’

Where’s the anger and demands for fascist tories to resign???? oh yes of course public are too busy being fooled by the incessant fascist tory lies because they believe everything these vile men tell them!

Well, I certainly want them to go!

But then, I’m a former (male) carer.

But the carers only get one if their employer decides to buy them, well when the website is able to take orders that is. Was just looking to see what requirements there were to prove entitlement [but couldn’t]
