Tories advised us to stay at home. Did they know it was a death sentence for so many?

Ambulances: by the time they arrive at the homes of people infected with coronavirus, it is often too late.

This was entirely predictable – and preventable.

I mean, what did you think was going to happen?

Firstly, because the government failed to act to prevent it at the right time (herd immunity, anybody?) any number of people became infected with the coronavirus.

Then the Tories realised that herd immunity was unpopular and decided to copy other countries, imposing a lockdown and telling people to stay in their homes.

Then they engineered a crisis in our hospitals; having failed to obtain the necessary equipment (despite having been told to do so years before), they made people feel they were more likely to die of the virus in a hospital than at home.

Now we discover that hordes of people are dying at home – of the coronavirus – because they feared catching it and dying of it in hospital.

Here’s the punchline:

This story was published by The Guardian at 7.18am on April 16, but I didn’t hear anything about it in the Daily Dominic press briefing with our ropey Foreign Secretary, Raab. Did you?

The coronavirus crisis has led to a sharp rise in the number of seriously ill people dying at home because they are reluctant to call for an ambulance, doctors and paramedics have warned.

Minutes of a remote meeting held by London A&E chiefs last week obtained by the Guardian reveal that dozens more people than usual are dying at home of a cardiac arrest – potentially related to coronavirus – each day before ambulance crews can reach them.

And as the chair of the Royal College of GPs said that doctors were noticing a spike in the number of people dying at home, paramedics across the country said in interviews that they were attending more calls where patients were dead when they arrived.

The real death toll will be much higher when it’s finally reckoned up.

This government doesn’t think. It’s fairly obvious that they’ve been making it up as they go along, without much thought to any consequences.

This is what happens when you’re ruled by an elite which is totally focused on short-term gains now and bugger the future.

In this they’re perfectly complimented by that part of the electorate which voted for them.

Yes; domestic abuse has increased dramatically since people were advised to stay at home.
