So much for Boris Johnson’s big return to work – now he’s off on paternity leave!

Making a poor fist of it: Johnson was all blood-and-thunder when he returned to work on Monday – waving his fist at the cameras. He should have been waving goodbye.

What a lot of fuss over nothing!

Remember when Boris Johnson announced he was finally coming back to work, after an extended period of recuperation from Covid-19, first in hospital and then at Chequers?

The rejoicing from certain Tory quarters was sickening.

“Boris is back!” they exclaimed! “He’ll get a grip on the coronavirus in no time!”

Well, no time is all he had because now he is off on paternity leave after Carrie Symonds gave birth to a boy.

Some might consider it churlish to criticise Johnson’s decision to take even more time off when the country is in the middle of its worst crisis in decades.

Doing the maths, we can see that conceiving the new arrival is what he did to celebrate his election as Tory leader (and default prime minister) back in July last year.

And if I can do the maths, so can he.

He would have known that the baby would be due around now.

I wonder whether he timed his return to work with it in mind, reasoning that he could pretend to be busy for a few days, a week or so, and then baby would come and he’d have a reasonable excuse to go back on holiday.

And how many breaks has he had, since becoming prime minister? Is he trying to take the record for the least amount of work done in the role?

Some might say it is churlish to criticise Johnson’s decision to take even more time off.

I say it is irresponsible of Johnson to abandon his responsibilities yet again.

We will remember him as the prime minister who created a catastrophe, waved his fist at it, and then ran away.

I am reminded of an old comment about people who make such a fuss and palaver about being in charge that nobody realises they aren’t.

And in the shadows – who?

Who is pulling the strings of power while Johnson is off playing mummies and daddies?

What a ‘scrounger’ dictator boris off on holiday again!!! Why he’s only been back at his part-time job a day and now he’s on holiday again!!!

Well done fascist dictator boris – you don’t care about the pandemic ‘cos it’s all about you taking holidays and then you’ll claim ‘not my fault guv UK deaths are so high I wasn’t in charge when it happened!’

So who or what more precisely – are running little england?

Admin GREY SWANS – GET THE DOCTORS TO RULE DURING PANDEMIC – Is it time for this Tory government to call an election as cannot cope with Covid19 issues,
for Labour party to cease and not run in elections, and
the National Health Action party alone to get full trade union funding, to run in a snap general election in every Tory and Labour MP seat, save the few socialist group of Labour MPs, so we get doctors and nurses in charge of parliament during a pandemic, with no sign of Covid19 vaccine til next year, according to World Health Organisation.

So the Johnson clan has another bastard.

Given his moral compass (or lack of) I cant help wondering if he’s taking paternity leave because he fancies a crack at the nanny they’ll have no doubt employed to do the dirty work.

Incidentally, in my local online press, initial reports of The Birth were met with an unusually high number of comments along the lines of “perhaps now he’ll finally get back to doing the job he’s paid to do”.

This was countered by a blitz of Tory Troll comments, all abusing Corbyn and Diane Abbot. Bizarre.

So am I. I think he was shamed into it.

I don’t think your being churlish or cynical Mike. I do think there’s a hell of a lot of hypocrisy out there though.
I don’t think he should be taking, what amounts to leave for personal reasons, aka paternity leave, at this present time. He can defer it, until his “role” as PM during this international pandemic allows. Any other man, unless there was an extremely urgent reason, working in vital sectors (emergency services, armed forces, key civil servants, ect, extended to NHS front line medical staff) during a National emergency, would have all leave suspended for the duration of the crisis. Take the Police as the prime example, not only cancelled leave but also temporary redeployment to “hot-spots” of rioting (several times in the recent past).
They’re all public servants, paid (poorly mainly) from the public purse, understanding it’s a duty they might be called on to provide – no matter how remote.
So why the hell should it be any different for the holder of the highest office in the country?
PM Bojo the Clown, you wanted the job, you fought dirty, very flaming dirty, to get it, you have a very generous renumeration package.
So do your damn job! Stop going MIA every 5 minutes, when it gets a bit like hard work!
Your girlfriend had a baby whoopdydoo, it’s not your first time playing that game, I’ll give you the heads up, it’s no different than the last one, the first, or the 4 or 5 in between!!
So I say again, as out of your depth and useless a PM as you are, DO your DAMN JOB! If it’s good enough for everyone else I’ve mentioned (and those I should have), then it’s good enough for you. The alternative being, resign, with immediate effect and go and play happy families!!

Except, of course, he isn’t…well like Blair, “maybe later in the year”

    • Mike Sivier May 1, 2020 at 2:40 pm - Reply

So what you – and he – are saying is he is.

      • Rob Fox May 2, 2020 at 9:02 am - Reply

Excuse me but your headline says – “now he is off on paternity leave” but the truth is, and what both he and I are saying, is that he is NOT Now off on paternity leave.

        • Mike Sivier May 2, 2020 at 1:29 pm - Reply

He went off, to avoid PMQs, and he’ll be off again soon.

Don’t try to split hairs because you’ll only look daft.

      • Rob Fox May 3, 2020 at 4:13 am - Reply

OK..if you think pointing out that the headline to your blog is totally inaccurate (as well as the bulk of the narrative being the same and ubsubstantiated) is splitting hairs then I am happy to bow to your superior knowledge and be considered daft.

        • Mike Sivier May 3, 2020 at 11:45 am - Reply

The headline wasn’t inaccurate, though. Johnson took the day off because his significant other had had their baby. Paternity leave.

Yes – bow to my superior knowledge, dafty.

I’m not sure if I should laugh or cry. Firstly the blonde tw*t is totally incompetent to be Prime Minister. Secondly the longer he spends out of the decision making process the better for all of us. Perhaps he should be encouraged to go together with his band of no hopers?

  8. Cardinal Sin April 30, 2020 at 8:52 am - Reply

When his paternity leave ends, what will be the NEXT excuse to run away and hide? Any guesses anyone?
