Johnson’s latest Covid-19 demand will make us ALL look like ‘bank robbers’ and ‘letterboxes’

If we’re going to wear face masks, let’s wear these: they were seized by US authorities during the George Floyd protests, to stop demonstrators protecting themselves from Covid-19 and are going spare. Can an enterprising entrepreneur please import them?

Funny how the things we say come back to haunt us.

Boris Johnson infamously said that Muslim women who wear the burqa look like “bank robbers” and “letterboxes” in an Islamophobic newspaper column of a couple of years ago.

But now his government has issued a decree that we should all wear face-coverings when we leave the house, starting on June 15.

The response has been logical:

The answer is that it has been deemed necessary for people to wear face coverings as more of the UK’s workforce return to their place of employment due to the government’s unaccountable decision to ease lockdown while Covid-19 infections are still increasing (as shown by the fact that we are still at alert level 4).

The simple fact is that anybody in public should be wearing them anyway:

The advice is to make masks at home, but I have a better idea.

If you read the caption under the image at the top of this article, you’ll know that US law enforcement officials seized masks that were intended to protect people from Covid-19 during anti-racism protests in that country. They are emblazoned with the words “Stop killing black people”.

Over here in the UK, government policy has led to a situation in which black people and other ethnic minorities are four times more likely to die of Covid-19 than the rest of us. The government suppressed a report on the reasons for this.

My suggestion is, wouldn’t it be a great idea to offer to take these masks off American hands and wear them ourselves – as a reminder to Boris Johnson that even his plans for dealing with the pandemic are racist?

well that means for people such as myself with asthma, copd and dodgy fingers who cant sew any longer and cant breath well to start with never mind wearing one of these masks. will have to stay at home forever and a day or until this virus has gone, which from what i can gather WE ARE GOING TO HAVE TO LIVE WITH. so that means forever.Even the district nurses who attend me to dress a wound tell me it takes THEM all their time to breath and ive seen them breath a sigh of relief and breathe deeply when they take them off as they leave my home, put them, aprons, old dressings and other debris in a plastic bag ,before tying it up n putting into my normal bin…which has to be sorted by humans …..NOT the yellow bag in a bin in the bathroom where dressings are supposed to go.
nothing is ever thought out properly is it?
like ALLOWING us who have been sheilding for almost 11 weeks now, to go out to meet 1 other person. dont take into account SOME of us cant do that without using a taxi that has had several different people riding in it all day every day yet cant be transported by someone who is a friend or relative. 1 person maybe has only their mum, dad or partner in their car …. when we get to our destination… 1. if its a park…..nope cant go there. far too many people including idiots who think it cant happen to them. no loos open either…..(elderly and some disabled with crohnes/IBS or other bowel complaint or weak bladders NEED LOOS TO BE OPEN BEFORE VENTURING ANYWHERE )..The latter is a typical affliction for woman after childbirth n it too is forever. it never goes away.. those who have been or are obese etc. can suffer that way too. SO WHY NO LOOS PLEASE?
town.. oh ….no shops open for at least 2 week after we were let out of our prisons.only food shops…supermarkets etc. sooo we pay inflated taxi fares(bound to go up cos they’ve lost income over the past (almost) 3 months) to dooo……….WHAT EXACTLY?WANDER ROUND TOWN LIKE LOST SOULS NOWHERE A DIABETIC CAN GET FOOD TO EAT IN COMFORT OR A DRINK…….who the heck thought this idea up of lifting the lock-down this way? did they even THINK to ask those it was going to affect? or even those who cared for those it would affect? I for one will be staying put ,as my dr has advised me to until someone sane with common sense and who actually CARES for these people, understands their problems and this predicament they are finding themselves in. any idea how the donkey must feel when a carrots presented to him/her but just out of reach? thats us. those who have been given a tiny carrot but cant get to it for a number of reasons.would love to find a way to treat bojo, and the rest, in that way, and see THEIR reaction
