Coronavirus: Dexamethasone is NOT the cure – so be careful who you believe
We appear to be at the stage of the Covid-19 pandemic when a new wonder drug is announced that will make it easier for us to lead normal lives again.
Well, Dexamethasone isn’t it!
Keep that in mind because, no doubt, every snake-oil salesman you can shake a stick at will be telling you the opposite – especially if they’re employers who want you to get back into making money for them.
The only use of this drug is in hospital, for people requiring oxygen assistance.
Personally, This Writer finds even that questionable, as it will give the Tories a chance to claim the fuss about a lack of ventilators was premature.
It won’t stop people catching Covid-19 or having to go into hospital with it if necessary.

Dexamethasone had been found reduce deaths in COVID-19 patients requiring oxygen assistance by up to a third.
The cheap, widely available steroid will now to be used in the standard care for hospitalised patients in Britain, the government announced.
Peter Horby, professor of emerging infectious disease at the University of Oxford, said the result from the clinical trial into dexamethasone “was really quite remarkable”.
But as there were no benefits to patients not requiring oxygen assistance, it is “not a drug that you would use in the community or in outpatients”.

Dexamethasone is a Corticosteroid and it’s use needs careful monitoring as like with others in that group, it reduces the body’s immunity from fighting infection.
That’s why I avoid everyone when I have to take Prednisone in combination with my other Respiratory medication.
So it is not the “miracle cure” touted by the Daily Heil but an act of desperation if all else fails so is absolutely not an alternative to a respirator – ignorance really can be deadly.
