If you see ARMED POLICE while out Christmas shopping, what will you think?

Last Updated: November 15, 2021By Tags: , , , , , , ,

This is what seems to happen when police meet the public in any appreciable number. What do you think will happen when they’re armed?

Apparently this is serious:

Armed police and plain clothes officers will patrol Christmas markets in the UK so festive shoppers can feel safe.

Due to strict lockdown rules Christmas markets were cancelled in 2020 so festive events this year are expected to attract thousands of tourists.

Police have confirmed armed officers will be deployed to a vast Christmas market in Manchester city centre.

Greater Manchester Police said the officers will be there “in order to ensure those attending the markets feel safe”.

If I see armed police staring at me when I’m out Christmas shopping, I[‘m not going to feel safe.

And, far from encouraging me to visit Christmas markets, their presence is more likely to make me stay away.

Even if they are genuinely there to ensure safety, they’ll make us feel that their purpose is to intimidate us.

And that’s what counts. Right?

I think they are on a terrorist alert but don’t want to say so for fear of panicking the public.

Where I live police officers are as rare as rocking horse poo and Unicorns, it would be a shock to see one armed or unarmed.

No, no, no, this is so wrong. there is no need for armed police to patrol the streets for gods sake. What is this country becoming? Rhetorical question.

Here in Sweden police are armed (with pistols) as a matter of course but I have very rarely (if ever?) seen any reports or evidence of police going in mob handed on the general public. There doesn’t seem to be any particular expression of police brutality or criminality such as seems to be relatively* common back in UK (and in other countries such as USAmerica). Why?

*All things are relative; I’m not implying that the majority are corrupt/brutal/whatever – though it does strike me that those, at all levels, who AREN’T could and should do a hell of a lot more in terms of standing up to be counted in the fight AGAINST corruption, brutality and the rest! Also some forces – the Met comes to mind immediately – seem to be much worse than others.

Also, while I’m not in principle in favour of police being armed as a matter of course, the prevalence of armed criminals, both individually and as gang members – and with the majority apparently being of non-Swedish origin (though not to give the ethnic Swedish element a free pass!) – I can definitely understand the necessity for routine arming of the police here. As a corollary to that, though, VERY few indeed of the firearm deaths here are down to the police!

Funny how this is announced just before the Liverpool incident and raising of the threat level.
Keeping people scared is key to fascist control.

As Covid fear is waning, something needs to keep the momentum going.

I’m not suggesting an MI6 “false flag” but the Tories are never ones to let an opportunity pass by.
