Riley libel case: another fishing expedition to deplete Mike’s crowdfund?

We could have set our clocks by this.

Just two days after I was notified that Rachel Riley’s barristers are trying to set a date for the libel trial, my solicitor emailed to say her legal team are trying to create another sideshow.

They reckon I’ve been hiding information that is detrimental to my case – but by necessity they don’t know what it is, and I can’t help because I’m completely mystified as to what they’re banging on about.

Nevertheless, there is a threat to take this to court in order to drain my CrowdJustice fund and make it impossible for me to defend myself at the trial.

I don’t think it is a coincidence that this has happened after I published an article here saying if we go to court in June, I’ll need a very fast cash injection to the crowdfund.

I have instructed my solicitor to seek clarification, so I can search for whatever it is they want – and to warn that, if the other side fails to provide the information I need and makes a costly court application, I will demand that they pay.

To me, the strategy seems clear: arrange a court date soon and then drain my funds so I cannot afford to appear at that time.

There is only one way to defeat it – demonstrate that they cannot beat me by draining my funds.

And that is why I need as much help as I can possibly get.

This time, I’m going to ask that, besides giving anything you can (again – and I’m aware I made an appeal only days ago), you pass this on to as many people as you can, so they can see what’s going on, with a request to provide help.

Times are hard – and they’re going to get harder. But we all know that if more people were aware of this case, I would be fully funded with money to spare before the end of next week. Right?

Once again, here are the instructions:

Consider making a donation yourself, via the CrowdJustice page.

Email your friends, asking them to pledge to the CrowdJustice site.

Post a link to Facebook, asking readers to pledge.

On Twitter, tweet in support, quoting the address of the appeal.

Please spread this as far and wide as you can so I have the best chance of fighting what seems a cynical attempt to undermine natural justice with money.

Have YOU donated to my crowdfunding appeal, raising funds to fight false libel claims by TV celebrities who should know better? These court cases cost a lot of money so every penny will help ensure that wealth doesn’t beat justice.
