Truss’s trickle-down economics lie explained – twice

Last Updated: September 27, 2022By Tags: , , , ,

It seems the satirists are falling over themselves to explain why Liz Truss’s favourite economic idea – the ‘trickle-down’ effect – is absolute bilge.

Here are Adam, Alex and Josh from The Last Leg:

And here’s a harsher version of the same explanation from Russell Kane:

The Labour Party has now opened up a 17-point lead over Truss’s Conservatives.

No wonder ‘no confidence’ letters are already flooding into 1922 Committee chairman Graham Brady’s office.

She’ll be out by Christmas. Hopefully an election by next summer and at least 250 of them booted out. The Tory Party will collapse by September 2023 and cease to exist the following month. The momentum will continue and the people will demand the end of monarchy. A new English Republic installed in the spring of 2024. We will pull out of NATO, the EU will implode, and across the ocean in America there will be a civil war and a new government of peace and good will, will come out of that war. The world for the first time in history will be united and all armies will be dissolved. I have sometimes been declared a clairvoyant. I certainly live in hope of a world at peace.
