Peter Oborne on Liz Truss – and he’s not holding back

Last Updated: October 16, 2022By Tags: , , , , , ,

Here’s former staunch Tory journalist Peter Oborne, talking about Liz Truss:

He’s not pulling his punches, is he?

He says:

The mini-budget was a way of helping the super-rich who have been contributing to think tanks that form policy for the Conservative government.

The Conservative Party has been bought wholesale by a very small, privileged group – and Liz Truss lives in a bubble constructed for her by these people.

She lacks any of the qualities necessary to be prime minister: judgement, empathy, understanding and humility.

She makes decisions she doesn’t understand.

She makes statements that are meaningless.

But she has the power to ruin the United Kingdom and has already started doing so.

She is in danger of pushing the war in Ukraine out of control.

She has collapsed confidence in the Conservatives as the party of sound financial management.

Interest rates will rise as a result.

Businesses will have to pay more interest on their overdrafts and may go bankrupt.

Homeowners will have to pay more interest on their mortgages.

The damage done by Truss and Kwarteng is unforgiveable.

The UK has never been worse-governed than now.

But how can we get rid of her?

The Conservative Party is finished as a political force if she stays – and may be finished if she is ousted.

People are now frightened of having the Tories in charge.

Truss has proved herself quite incapable of running Britain.

We don’t know our own social history in UK.

The Tories have always been the party of the 1 per cent richest of men, even before formed as a party, from the same kind of public school educated, aristocratic elite and new money near aristocracy (men marrying money – as husbands til very recent history took all the wealth of his wife).

Just because now the rich are into hedge funds and not manufacturers makes no difference. It is like the Gilded Age series, showing new money and the old money that came from 2nd sons of aristocracy granted royal land grants in America. USA began from them and not the pilgrim fathers, as we know.

The bosses of the industrial revolution were as cruel as any aristocratic moneyed class. They both were against the Chartists, against the speakers and audience at Peterloo, against the Suffragists.

That elite class wanted to remain with the feudal world of us, the working class, being literally owned by the elite, called Serfs after 1066AD Norman invasion. Feudalism only ended with the huge death toll of Black Death (bubonic plague).

Now Labour is funded by millionaire Tory donors and Tory MPs converting to Labour MPs still sitting in the job.

You do a good job (along with Skwawkbox), with your Vox Political blog, shared on my page, which is not enough as needed to be shared on Corbyn pages through social media. Labour needs to be gone as a party on the ballot sheet, to get the Clement Attlee type of government we desperately need.

Is it time for Labour to be sued again and again for sexism, ageism, Black and Asian racism, Islamophobia, and by all the expelled? So Labour goes bankrupt swiftly?
