Why will the Tories pay pharma firms 24x the usual price of their pills, but won’t give nurses a pay rise?

Pharmaceutical firms have hiked the price of medication for Strep A – the disease that is currently killing UK children – from 80p to £19 per packet.

The government is happy to pay that amount.

We know this because a government minister said so in a response to Labour Lord Prem Sikka, who wanted to know whether the government would start up its own pharma firm to manufacture this medicine for a fair price.

Here’s a commentary on what happened:

So the government is happy to pay the cost of particular medicines, even if the companies supplying them hike the price to 23.75 times its normal level – because that’s “the market price”.

Nurses are telling government ministers “the market price” of their labour should be 1.2 times its current level – and the government has refused to pay.

The latter group is looking for a fair price for an honest day’s work; the former is engaging in bare-faced profiteering.

And the Tories are supporting the profiteers. Think about it.

Doubtless many of the fascist tory boys have shares in Big Pharma so these companies profiting by selling medication for Strep A at £19 a packet means even more profits for the greedy fascist tory boy shareholders!

However, the female nurses don’t earn profits for their ‘shareholders’ so why would the fascist tories even consider giving these disposable women any pay rise??? In fact the female nurses should be nursing without even demanding a salary – given anyone can nurse! (sic)!!!

If you cast your mind back a little, remember when our Government got a “bee in it’s Bonnet” about spending far too much on Antibiotics and as a result GPs gave even those needing them a hard time when they asked for them? (Happened to me)
The European manufacturers then prioritised distribution and later tried to recoup their loses – it’s wrong I know, but look at the root of the problem, our Government.

My Grandson has been diagnosed with Strep A, GP can’t get any medication so my daughter was given only a leaflet saying “Go to A&E if these symptoms occur” – that’s the reality.
