Take this poll on whether a new Left party is needed to pressure Starmer’s Labour

Last Updated: March 5, 2023By Tags: , , , , , , , , , ,

Keir Starmer: even if he’s found this poll, I don’t think he’ll be able to rig it.

Richard Murphy of Tax Research UK has an interesting question.

He wants to know if left-leaning politicians and powerful figures should begin a new party to pressure Starmer’s Labour in the way UKIP pressured and changed the Tories.

At the time of writing, the answer is very much “yes”. But what do you think?

Labour party in Wales needs to be independent of the English party so that it can flex its muscles.

Starmer has destroyed the labour party. He has proven to be totally self serving, a proven liar, fraud, atotally two faced, backstabber. He has no interest in serving, or working for the people of Britain. His only interests lie with himself and those who can bribe him the most, i.e. Israel.
Starmer and his racist, fake labour tory party, along with Sunak’s criminal Cartel, must not win the next election!

Yes, the Labour (liebour) has been hijacked by right wingers, it’s almost more Tory than the tories. I agree that business must be “accomodated” but should not have more influence than any individual member!

Jeremy Corbyn’s Peace & Justice organisation would do a very good job

Definitely too far to the right. He can’t be trusted. He said Corbyn was his friend then he turned on him! Doesn’t support the unions or striking workers. Doesn’t want to renationalise. He’s another Blairite, only out for his own selfish aims.

Starmer is, and always has been ‘Tory Lite’ and should never have gained the position that he holds in the Labour Party. When I look at him, I cannot help thinking of the old butter substitute advert………’I can’t believe it’s not tory’

What is needed is a new, progressive left wing party. At the moment the right wing has re-entered Labour and is ‘using the name’ to get the votes of the electorate who don’t have anywhere else to go. In reality the right wing left and should have stayed out since forming the ill-fated SDP in the 80s but were allowed back in and have cleared the party of anyone remotely left wing. The original Labour values were about the working man and raising their standard of living, giving real democracy to members and for (in Scotland) home rule. Now the Labour Parties in Wales and Scotland can’t make decisions about law in their own parliaments without getting the go ahead from London (despite being, allegedly, separate entities)

Labour failed to go into coalition with the SNP in Scotland in a parliament specifically designed for coalitions and then sought to stand in the way of every SNP policy they could – even when they coincided with their own and even when they could have reached an agreement to have their own policies implemented. They were punished at the successive elections for this. As soon as an alternative party is seen to be an option in England and Wales Labour are finished..

I find it completely baffling that Richard Murphy, who appears to be a sound thinker in other respects, should find it appropriate to ask this question when a fine Socialist alternative already exists – the Green Party. Quite a lot of ex-Labour Socialists have already realised this and joined the Greens, why not him?

I can’t vote Labour while the self serving & lying Starmer & his cabal are in the party

We no longer have a Party that represents working families. And at the present time, one is needed more than ever. Time to ditch
‘New Blue Labour’ and establish a Party which protects the principles our forefathers fought so hard for. A system that is being eroded daily which Starmer and Co do NOTHING to oppose.
