Business leaders are furious after Cabinet Office minister Lord Agnew told them they’ve had their “heads in the sand” by failing to prepare for new border checks at the end of the Brexit transition periods.
They say they have spent the last four years asking the Tory governments of David Cameron, Theresa May and now Boris Johnson what they need to do, only to be met with silence.

Lord Agnew knows it’s a disaster. However that won’t stop him laying the blame on Traders. Someone ask him how much he’s making from Brexit, personaly?

Would that be the same Lord Agnew, who has a £90k investment in the Vote Leave AI firm "Faculty" I wonder.https://t.co/cdgnkyYgw0

If any traders have their head in the sand it’s because, after many frustrating months awaiting critical answers, they probably think it’s more likely they’ll find those answers in the sand than they will from the Government.” 🚛 /2

Lord Agnew is *lying*, and you need to say the words. My company and thousands of others cannot get the details of what to do to prepare, because the systems are not finished, and procedures are not published.
He must own his sh*t

Lord Agnew has said today that Biz has its head stuck in the sand when it comes to Brexit and the end of the transition period. We have engaged non-stop asking q's & looking for clarity while covid & a recession have not helped. https://t.co/3wJRDJG45N

The comments from Lord Agnew are outrageous. At @Foodanddrinkfed we have tens of questions on how this all works that the U.K. Government has not answered – all to help our members prepare. https://t.co/7VtVPWl2nG

Cabinet Office Minister, Lord Agnew, says businesses are taking a "head in the sand" approach to preparations for #Brexit. Referencing the fact that ostriches are famous for repeatedly shouting "tell us what to fucking do!" for four years and getting no response.#BrexitReality

Lord Agnew – It's your fault that you're not prepared
Business – We've been waiting for some guidelines
LA – Well that was foolish, it's your business at stake
B – OK so what do you advise we do?
LA – Get prepared
B – How?

Hmm – Lord Agnew deploying the traditional Government approved "blame absolutely any other fucker" approach . Expect much much more of this.

The facts seem clear:
- Businesses have spent four years – ever since the EU referendum vote happened – demanding clarity from the Tories on what Brexit will mean for them. They received no response.
- Now that the reality is almost upon us, Lord Agnew has been wheeled out to pretend that the situation in 1. above has not taken place.
- His lie has been exposed, and
- The government has still not told businesses what they need to do.
