Israeli genocide in Gaza: more footage from the live-streamed Holocaust

The amount of photographic and video material coming out of Gaza at the moment is reaching a level for which it is impossible to provide commentary in the limited time available to one journalist operating alone.

Here’s a selection of recent contributions:

UK politicians wishing Muslims a “peaceful Ramadan” are hypocrites

Keir Starmer and Rishi Sunak: they’re both quick to wish Muslim voters in the UK a peaceful Ramadan, while supplying – and supporting the supply of – weapons to Israel so it can continue killing Muslims in Gaza.

The hypocrisy of this.

The Conservatives…

… and Labour…

… are wishing Muslims a “peaceful” Ramadan.

Included in those wishes must be the Muslim people of Gaza, who have been subjected to five months of genocide – so far – by their Israeli neighbours, who are using weaponry supplied by the UK, and who are aided by UK naval support.

Buy Cruel Britannia in print here. Buy the Cruel Britannia ebook here. Or just click on the image!

A more honest message would have been: “Ramadan mubarak to Muslims everywhere except Gaza. Muslims in Gaza can all die.”

After all, that’s what they have been doing, thanks to the aid the UK gives Israel:

These two-faced fakers in the Conservative Party and Labour should all be kicked out at the next election. I mean, would you vote for any of these liars?

Palestine Action protester sprays and slashes painting of architect of modern Israel

Protest group Palestine Action has defaced a painting of Lord Balfour at Trinity College, Cambridge, spraying it with red paint and slashing it.

The Tory politician gave his name to the Balfour Declaration – a statement by the then-British government on the creation of a Jewish homeland in Palestine, paving the way for the founding of Israel in 1948.

With Israel now engaged in the systematic genocide of Palestinians in Gaza, it is easy to understand why some organisations would want to protest the UK’s part in that country’s creation.

Buy Cruel Britannia in print here. Buy the Cruel Britannia ebook here. Or just click on the image!

Here’s video of the attack on the painting:

The act – which is a crime, of course; criminal damage – has been hugely controversial. Some have approved wholeheartedly, but others have been appalled at the destruction of a work of art – a view that has sparked harsh responses:

This Writer understands that the painting can be restored, so the attack on it was a symbolic gesture.

Whose side do you take?

Israel’s latest UNRWA claim is unsubstantiated hearsay

When This Writer learned that the Israeli government had made another accusation against the United Nations’ aid agency for Palestine, UNRWA, I had absolutely no faith in it.

The previous allegation was that 12 UNRWA employees – 0.04 per cent of the workforce – had been active in Hamas, and so the whole organisation should be de-funded as a result. But there was no evidence to support the claim – and I saw information suggesting that three of the accused were dead, and therefore unable to commit terrorist acts.

Buy Cruel Britannia in print here. Buy the Cruel Britannia ebook here. Or just click on the image!

It seems I was correct to have concerns. Here‘s The Independent:

Israel ramped up its criticism of the embattled U.N. agency for Palestinian refugees Monday, saying 450 of its employees were members of militant groups in the Gaza Strip, though it provided no evidence to back up its accusation.

Hence my reply to a pro-Israel propaganda mouthpiece on ‘X’:

This messing with the truth is typical of the Israeli government:

The upside of it is that at least Israel is debunking its own lies – which suggests that the genocidal government of that country is also staggeringly stupid.

Galloway by-election win rattles Sunak; he’ll crack down harder on protest against him

Sunak’s speech: look at that face. He knows the game’s up.

Rishi Sunak has responded to George Galloway’s pro-Palestine by-election win in Rochdale with a speech attacking the new MP himself – and also peaceful protest.

His comments outside Downing Street were pre-publicised, meaning some of us were able to speculate on what he would say…

… and that was very close to the fact of it:

Buy Cruel Britannia in print here. Buy the Cruel Britannia ebook here. Or just click on the image!

While he did not announce new laws against protest, Sunak did encourage police to act more strongly during events – attracting heavy criticism:

You can read about the Flour Massacre here.

The speech has provoked strident responses from both pro-Palestine protesters and the Workers’ Party of Britain, whose MP George Galloway now is:

Sunak was really saying he would do everything he could to silence Galloway and stop the protests against the genocide that Israel is carrying out in Gaza.

If you are as disgusted by this revolting display as This Writer, you have two options. The first is to join peaceful protests and bear witness to attempts at suppression by police, acting as Sunak’s political puppets as described in his speech.

The other is to vote for parties other than either the Conservatives or Labour. Remember:

Sunak and Starmer – and the parties they lead – are as bad as each other. Rochdale has shown the way and it is for those of us in other constituencies to follow.

Chris Williamson schools timid BBC interviewer on the meaning of genocide

Talking straight: Chris Williamson.

Congratulations to former Labour MP Chris Williamson for putting a BBC interviewer straight about what’s going on in Gaza in no uncertain terms.

Speaking after fellow Workers’ Party politician George Galloway won the Rochdale by-election, Chris – who is a personal friend of This Site – expressed his horror that the Labour Party was “facilitating” and “supporting genocide” by Israel against the civilian population of Gaza.

Buy Cruel Britannia in print here. Buy the Cruel Britannia ebook here. Or just click on the image!

The interviewer – possibly at the behest of some unseen producer’s voice in his earpiece – moved to silence this shocking revelation of the facts, and… it did not go well for him:

Good for you Chris. You are absolutely right.

Nobody who supports genocide deserves any consideration from right-minded, decent people. And that includes the leaders and MPs of the Labour Party.

MPs give themselves £48k pay rise to defend against a threat that doesn’t exist

Backhander: politicians in Westminster have found another way to bleed public funds into their own hands – a fund to defend against a claimed threat of violence against them… that does not exist.

UK Home Secretary James Cleverly has announced Parliament’s response to claims that MPs are being threatened by “Islamists” or “Muslims” or “pro-Palestine protesters” or whoever the bogeyman is today.

It’s £31 million, to be divided between MPs so they can pay for extra security, which comes to almost £48,000 per MP – although it seems likely to be used to help other politicians too:

Buy Cruel Britannia in print here. Buy the Cruel Britannia ebook here. Or just click on the image!

People have drawn the obvious conclusion:

With no clear evidence against any individual or organisation, we are seeing MPs diverting public money away from public services and the good of the nation and towards themselves – for no reason.

And take careful note of the comment about Diane Abbott – who has received more abuse and threats than every other MP in Parliament combined, but was never offered any publicly-funded protection before now. Is it because she doesn’t kowtow to the rich and powerful?

The conclusion – about the Tory and Labour MPs who made this possible – is painfully clear:

They are lining their own pockets while they can.

Violent COUNCILLORS try to stifle ‘Free Palestine’ calls in Chorley

Remember when these people flooded into London last October to demonstrate against Israel’s genocide in Gaza? If they were violent, they could have turned our capital city into a replica of that ruined Palestinian enclave. But they didn’t because they were peaceful. It is the politicians who denigrate them that are violent.

Violence is always the resort of the ruling class.

In the clip below – taken at a council meeting in Chorley, we can see and hear members of the public calling for action to support the people of Gaza, and Palestine in general. In response, one councillor shouts, “This is Chorley, not Gaza!” and tries to physically throw the (female) main speaker out of the room.

From there, the meeting descends into chaos as those present react to what has happened.

This Writer can only agree with the observation of Another Angry Voice:

The will of the people is that the UK should do everything it can to end the Gaza genocide – but the will of the political class is that our money should be used to ensure it continues to its conclusion.

Those of us who do not accept that are also participants in the conflict, right here in the UK.

WE ARE ALL IN GAZA NOW.
