Tories STILL have no strategy to provide PPE in coming second wave of Covid-19

Back to improvisation: the UK’s medics will be forced to resort to cobbling together their own weak imitation of protective equipment in the second wave of Covid-19, if Boris Johnson has his way.

The UK government does not have a clear strategy to acquire and distribute the equipment needed to protect clinical and care workers in a second wave of coronavirus, parliament’s spending watchdog has warned.

Here‘s The Guardian:

The public accounts committee on Wednesday insisted that ministers should return after the summer with a detailed explanation of how they plan to stock the NHS and care sector with gowns, masks, eye protection and gloves.

MPs on the cross-party committee said they were “extremely concerned” by shortages of personal protective equipment (PPE) during the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic and said the government was still developing plans for replenishing current stocks if there was a further outbreak.

It follows a national outcry during the pandemic when some health and care workers were forced to improvise – sometimes using rubber gloves and bin liners – while treating those with the disease.

More than 300 health and care workers have so far died of Covid-19, and many NHS staff groups and families claim that inadequate PPE played a key role in exposing them to the virus.

The Tories cancelled supplies of PPE before Covid-19 arrived in the UK, allegedly in the belief that it would not be needed.

It seems Boris Johnson still believes there’s no need for such life-saving equipment in the NHS.

Don’t blame me – I didn’t elect him. Who did?

UK could face second lockdown ‘within months’ as outbreaks occur across the nation

Closed: the indecent haste with which Boris Johnson has been rushing England out of lockdown has already created Covid-19 infection spikes in several cities, and in schools across that country.

The UK faces a second wave of Covid-19 in as little as a few weeks, according to a professor of global public health.

Devi Sridhar, who acts as the public health adviser for Scotland’s first minister Nicola Sturgeon, warned of “constant outbreaks” as lockdown restrictions ease across the country.

She tweeted: “I know that everyone wants the economy to go full steam ahead in the UK. But I fear we will be in another lockdown within months, if not weeks…

“Eliminate the virus over the summer then open up safely. Otherwise enter winter and flu season in a dangerous halfway house.”

Here’s the proof of her words:

Three new coronavirus hotspots named in list of top 10 worst-hit areastrumpeted the Mirror on July 9:

The information from Public Health England shows that the number of infections is on the rise in Blackburn, Bedford and Peterborough.

Leicester continues to have the highest number of Covid-19 infections in the UK, and Health Secretary Matt Hancock was forced to admit that this has been largely fuelled by outbreaks in schools.

So it should come as no surprise to learn that Covid-19 in schools is at its highest level in six weeks – since they were reopened at the beginning of June:

The graph, by the way, shows the number of schools affected. The number of infections is likely to be significantly higher.

So there it is.

Perhaps you don’t think there’s any reason to worry. After all, both the Tory government and the Labour opposition are keen to tell you that it’s all under control and there is no cause for worry.

As the Covid-19 unnecessary death toll in the UK inches closer to 70,000, just have a think about whether you believe that before you head off to the pub.

How many of the Bournemouth beach idiots are already giving Covid-19 to their family and friends?

Bournemouth beach: how many of these twits will have Covid-19 as a result of this day’s madness?

Half a million halfwits sitting on a beach.

Half a million halfwits sitting on a beach,

And if one of those halfwits should have Covid-19,

There’ll be half a million halfwits sitting in hospital.

It doesn’t rhyme but it gets the point across, I hope. The worst part of it is that everybody who went to Bournemouth beach on the hottest day of the year had every right to be there because Boris Johnson has been permitting visits to English beaches since the end of May.

Of course, everybody who went was supposed to adhere to the two metre distancing rule (or is it “one metre plus”, whatever that means?) and they clearly didn’t bother.

There will be a spike in Covid-19 infections. That is inevitable. I wonder if those who caught the virus during their trip will think the possibility of death, or the contraction of life-changing conditions, is a good trade-off for half a day’s suntan.

I wonder how many of the friends and family members they’ll have infected since that beach visit will feel the same.

And there’s another aspect to this.

An increase in Covid-19 infections will mean more people attending hospitals with the disease, exposing our NHS staff to further risk of infection – and Parliament – by which I mean 331 Conservative MPs – has just voted to deny weekly Covid-19 testing to doctors, nurses and support staff in the NHS.

What does that suggest to you?

To This Writer, it’s as if Boris Johnson has been lining you all up for the so-called Second Wave – and many of you got in the queue of your own accord, thinking it was for ice cream.

Coronavirus: here comes the second wave as first UK hospital closes A&E due to overloading

The snake: this image was probably created to denote Donald Trump but it works equally well for Boris Johnson, especially as we are no seeing a new spike in Covid-19 infections, exactly the expected time after Johnson relaxed lockdown rules. He must have known what would happen.

As predicted two weeks ago, when Boris Johnson blithely told us all to go back to work, here comes the second wave of Covid-19 infections that he caused:

An NHS hospital has been forced to close its accident and emergency department to new admissions as a result of high numbers of patients with coronavirus.

Weston General Hospital, in Weston-Super-Mare, Somerset, stopped accepting A&E patients at 8am on Monday morning.

Dr William Oldfield, medical director said: “This is a clinically led decision and we are being supported by our system partners to ensure that new patients receive the care and treatment they need in the appropriate setting, and we are continuing to provide high quality care to existing patients who are being treated in the hospital.”

So there you have it.

We know that Covid-19 takes around 14 days to gestate inside human beings and, right on time, 14 days after Boris Johnson relaxed the lockdown, here it is back again.

He still wants to reopen schools to Reception-age pupils who won’t have any understanding of social distancing rules, next Monday.

So if you’re a parent being told to send your child back, you now know that it will be to bring Covid-19 home to you.

I would urge you to rely on your instincts as a parent (as Boris Johnson described the actions of Dominic Cummings recently) and protect your child by ignoring the demand.

Of course the social media are full of this latest development:
