Supporters of the Israeli government: did you know you also support this? [DISTRESSING CONTENT]

The following speaks for itself.

Supporters of the current government of Israel also support the murder of children.

No matter whether the Palestinian youth who was killed had committed any crime of his own – and there’s no proof shown here – he should have received medical attention but was instead shot and allowed to bleed to death.

If that is the culture of Israel, then Israel is barbaric.

BBC apologises after presenter CORRECTLY identifies Israel Defence Force murders of children

Do Israeli armed forces murder children? Well, here’s Muhammad Tamimi. His two-year-old life was ended after a member of the Israel Defence Forces raided his village and shot this defenceless toddler in the head.

There’s a meme going the rounds on the social media about the British Broadcasting Corporation.

It says when one person says it’s raining and another says it is sunny, it isn’t the BBC’s job to present a balance of the two viewpoints; the BBC’s job is to look out the window and see which of them is right.

Let’s apply this to a complaint made by the far-right, Israeli-government-supporting Board of Deputies of British Jews, that made a complaint to the BBC about this Newsnight sequence in which the attack on the refugee campaign in the Palestinian city of Jenin by the Israel Defence Force was questioned:

(I have no idea why Jimmy Hill’s face kept appearing in the clip; presumably it’s a comment by whoever made it about the veracity of Mr Bennett’s claims.)

The Board of Deputies made a complaint, which you can read below. And below that, you can find evidence refuting its claim:

Only last month, an IDF trooper shot two-year-old toddler Muhammad Tamimi in the head, in what is believed to have been a deliberate act of aggression against the child:

He died of his injury a short while later.

It therefore seems unsupportable that the Board of Deputies of British Jews can claim that it is “disgraceful” to say the IDF forces seem happy to kill children. The evidence is there, for all to see.

Sadly, it seems the BBC has not looked out of the window to check what the weather is actually doing.

In fairness, the BBC apology said the line of questioning was appropriate – it was just the language that was used that caused offence.

But that was enough for the Board of Deputies to crow about it.

Considering the way both organisations have responded to this incident, perhaps the BBC should look into the subject more deeply.

Perhaps Panorama could run a film examining the number of children the IDF have murdered and the frequency of these killings, alongside the after-the-event excuses for them, with analysis of whether the claims of the Israeli government actually stand up to scrutiny.

This Writer has a feeling the results would be illuminating – but I don’t think the BBC, under its shrinking-violet director general Tim Davie, would have the nerve.

For now, it seems the best advice possible for both parties in this dispute is to say that, if the Board of Deputies doesn’t want to see reports saying Israeli armed forces murder children…

Perhaps it should call on the Israeli armed forces to stop murdering children.

An Israeli soldier has shot and killed a toddler. Let’s discuss ‘outdated’ notions

Muhammad Tamimi: his two-year-old life was ended after a member of the Israel Defence Forces raided his village and shot this defenceless toddler in the head.

Remember last week, when This Site commented on Jewish Chronicle reviewer Jonathan Sacerdoti’s critique of Maureen Lipman’s performance in the play Rose, in which he stated that it invests “dramatic capital in the outdated notion that Jews kill children”.

Outdated?

This happened last week:

I think it’s time we discussed some of these “notions” that certain people are constantly telling us are “outdated”.

Certainly the claim that armed Israelis shoot children is neither a notion, nor outdated. It is a terrifying fact.

Some have tried to justify the killing of a child by saying his parents put him in the line of fire. This is clearly false; the shooting happened during a raid on a Palestinian village by members of the Israel Defence Forces.

They claimed that they were responding to Palestinian aggression and I am not going to debate that. It might be true but that is irrelevant to what has happened, which is this:

Armed military aggressors attacked unarmed civilians in their homes and shot a toddler in the head, causing injuries from which he later died.

There is no explanation that can justify such an act.

It is unacceptable on any level at all – as all civilised observers must agree. Nobody can ever say they shot an unarmed toddler in the head as an act of self-defence.

And the very least the rest of us should expect is a little contrition from people like Mr Sacerdoti.

Hunt staff appear to MURDER dog that just wanted to play

Shot dead: Scamp’s reward for being a playful puppy who acted according to her nature.

There’s a big push to end the ban on hunting with dogs at the moment, because we have a Conservative government with a huge majority and Tories love cruelty to animal.

Today we found that this cruelty extends even to the dogs, with the filmed murder of a young hound – apparently for being too much trouble for her handlers.

It seems they got tired of having to chase her back in, after being allowed out into the exercise field with the rest of her pack.

So they shot her in the head.

The revelation comes after secret filming showed hounds at the Duke of Beaufort’s Hunt in Gloucestershire being shot dead at kennels (be warned: if you visit the site you will see footage of this happening).

It seems hounds can be killed, legally, if they are too old to hunt, or are ill or injured. The Hunt told ITV that hounds are humanely euthanised if they cannot be rehomed – and most can’t because they are not house-trained and are used to a pack environment.

But the footage appears to show one hound being shot simply for being playful and enjoying life.

Here’s the story:

The RSPCA has responded to the footage (after being challenged on it, on Twitter) – but only to say that it has handed Hunt-related prosecutions to the police and would appreciate an investigation:

There was no indication that the RSPCA had bothered to bring the incident to the attention of the police – an act that would have had greater weight than if any ordinary member of the public did so. Asked if it would take such action…

… There was no reply.

Coca-Cola fox cull halted after campaigners raised the alarm

This article was going to be a call to arms – but now it seems the pressure is off after Coca-Cola announced it has put plans to shoot foxes at its Sidcup factory “on hold”.

Of course, that doesn’t mean the multinational drinks firm won’t kill large numbers of the animal by other means, but at least it signifies that bosses are willing to discuss what can be done.

Residents launched a passionate “Stop the Cull” campaign after they discovered a plan for the mass killing of foxes – to take place today, February 11 – on the Cray Road, Sidcup site.

They pointed out that at this time of year it would mean the targeting of pregnant vixens.

This Writer is not particularly fond of foxes as, in large numbers, they can become pests.

But I have always opposed fox hunting (and any blood sport) and killing animals because they interfere with industry is unacceptable because it ultimately leads to the mass extinctions we are causing across the world.

Coca-Cola has released a statement, quoted in some news outlets as follows:

“Unfortunately foxes can, on occasion, cause damage and we have found the need to keep their numbers under control at our Sidcup site.

“We have taken on board people’s feedback and understand their concerns.

“We have put these control measures on hold at our Sidcup site and we are now reviewing what other options are available.”

Campaigners favour a humane, non-lethal fox management service called Fox-a-gon and it is to be hoped that the firm will take that into account.

This is what Black Lives Matter meant to US police: wait a while, then shoot them in the back

Point blank: (white) Wisconsin police officers were filmed shooting Jacob Blake in the back is he sat in his car. His children, also in the car, saw everything.

So much for all the protesting and solidarity earlier this summer. American police are still shooting to kill black people for no apparent reason.

It seems clear that they will continue to do so until force is used to stop them.

And how can that happen when they have the guns, and the name of the law – if not the letter of it – behind them?

The victim in this instance is Jacob Blake, of, Kenosha, Wisconsin, who was apparently walking back to his car after breaking up a fight between two women when police shot him in the back seven times, at point-blank range.

He may never walk again.

His children were also in the car and saw the police officers shooting their father in the back.

The shooting provoked a mass demonstration in which hundreds of people marched through the streets to gather outside the Kenosha County Public Safety Building, chanting: “No justice, no peace!”

Wisconsin’s Democrat governor, Tony Evers, also condemned the shooting. He said: “Tonight, Jacob Blake was shot in the back multiple times, in broad daylight, in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Kathy and I join his family, friends, and neighbors in hoping earnestly that he will not succumb to his injuries.”

“While we do not have all of the details yet, what we know for certain is that he is not the first Black man or person to have been shot or injured or mercilessly killed at the hands of individuals in law enforcement in our state or our country.

“We stand with all those who have and continue to demand justice, equity, and accountability for Black lives in our country—lives like those of George Floyd, of Breonna Taylor, Tony Robinson, Dontre Hamilton, Ernest Lacy, and Sylville Smith.”

Family members have appealed for “healing”.

It seems clear that systemic racism is alive and well in the US police forces.

They listened and watched while the Black Lives Matter protests against the killing of George Floyd took place around the world – including in the UK – and then they shrugged and carried on shooting black people.

That’s not law enforcement. It’s racism. And if we really want to eradicated it, we need more than honeyed words from old men in expensive suits

Apologists for the Israeli government – justify this [WARNING: Distressing content]

This is for people who defend the claims of anti-Semitism against those who criticise the Israeli government’s treatment of Palestinians.

You just saw the moment Palestinian child Ahmad Abu Tyour was shot and critically injured by Israeli snipers at the Gaza border on Friday. He succumbed to his wounds on Saturday and has been pronounced dead.

If you think the footage was faked, read:

A Palestinian teen died of his wounds yesterday a day after he was shot by Israeli troops during a protest on the Gaza border, the enclave’s health ministry said.

Ahmad Abu Tayoor, 17, was shot late Friday on the border close to the southern city of Rafah, the ministry said.

Now:

It is considered anti-Semitic to hold Israel to standards that would not be expected of any other country.

But this teenage boy was shot in the leg – ultimately murdered – for throwing a stone.

No member of any country’s armed forces should be allowed to claim it is reasonable to shoot a minor dead for throwing a stone.

This looks like a racist attack on a member of a different culture, to me.

I await – and I hope you do too – the Israeli government’s excuse.

Next time someone defends Israel’s treatment of Palestinians, show them this [WARNING: GRAPHIC VIOLENCE]

Disgrace: Soldiers of the Israel Defence Force were responsible (although not, as far as we know, the soldiers in this image).

Israel’s army has been disgraced after video footage emerged of a sniper shooting an unarmed Palestinian in the head.

No reason is given for the execution, but the sniper’s commander can be heard giving orders on how it should be carried out.

Israel has offered up no response at the time of writing, apart from a claim that the footage is several months old. As if that makes a difference.

Gun law in US? Trump protester shot after confrontation on Portland bridge

Americans who support Donald Trump have started taking the law into their own hands, then.

The shooting of an anti-Trump protester by a member of the public certainly suggests that gun law – rule by those who carry firearms – is back, and the West is once again wild.

Violence in the States is getting worse. The police need to get a grip because there’s no evidence that they’ll get it under control any time soon. What if they can’t?

An anti-Trump protester has been shot after a confrontation with another man as another night of demonstrations against the President-elect took place in US cities.

Police in Portland, Oregon, said [a] man got out of his vehicle on the city’s Morrison Bridge where he confronted and shot the protester.

Dozens of people were crossing the bridge when the shooting happened at 12.45am.

The victim does not have life-threatening injuries but the suspect is still at large, said police.

There has so far been no comment on the reasons behind the shooting.

Harsh criticism for Miliband’s advisors – and about time too

The right man for the job? Despite what follows, Ed Miliband must take much of the responsibility for the Sun photoshoot cock-up. If he's going to slavishly do whatever his political advisors say then he is a follower, not a leader. He should be thinking very carefully about the right thing to do - not only for his future, but for the future of the nation.

Ed Miliband has lost far too much political ground by making silly schoolboy mistakes, but it is right that he should not take all of the blame.

The Labour leader is surrounded by advisors who should be warning him away from having his photograph taken with a football-promoting copy of The Sun in the week that the Hillsborough inquests were taking place. Instead it seems they egged him on to do it.

That’s completely wrong-headed and suggests that there are people close to Miliband who are working against him. Blairites who want to discredit ‘Red Ed’, perhaps? It would explain why Labour is still coming out – and getting bogged down – with ‘Red Tory’ ideas when it should be pushing a new anti-austerity, anti-privatisation, pro-equality and pro-fairness position.

The party’s former deputy chairman, Tom Watson, wants to see better results or resignations – but he’s being far too charitable to people who are idiots at best, fifth columnists at worst.

“The people around Ed… they’re very powerful political people; they carry a lot of power in the Labour party,” Watson told Radio 5 Live (as reported in The Guardian). If that’s true, then they probably gained that power as part of neoliberal New Labour. Their ideas will be as out-of-date as those of the current Conservative-led Coalition.

Look what Watson said shortly after: “We had a leader of the Labour party who was publicly embarrassed on Thursday because whoever was in charge of press let him go through a process where we had councillors in Merseyside resigning. It was a schoolboy error from someone who doesn’t understand the Labour party.” And yet, by his own admission, these are some of the most powerful people in it!

But you didn’t have to be a powerful political advisor to know what the right decision should have been; a commenter on Facebook pointed it out. Miliband should have declined The Sun‘s invitation and arranged a photo shoot of his own, preferably with a local football team; “Labour supports British football from the grass roots upward.” That would have highlighted, also, the commercialisation (and corruption?) of the game at higher levels.

It’s what I would have suggested.

So here’s a thought: Let’s tell Ed to fire whoever told him a Sun photoshoot would be a good idea and hire me instead. Not only do I know what the score is (more than his current yes-men, for sure), I won’t cost as much, and it’s a job I can do from home – so my activities as a carer won’t be affected.

You think that’s a mistake? Surely not.

How much time do you think it takes to tell a man the difference between a good idea and a duff one?

All you need is the sense to know the difference…

… and the proper political motives.
