Mainstream media have discovered Sunak’s ‘Eat Out’ scheme spread Covid-19 – two years too late

Profiting from death: after he served up this little howler – and pushed up Covid-19 infections massively, Rishi Sunak became prime minister. Shouldn’t he be paying for the consequences of his actions?

Watch the video summary:

Congratulations to Metro* for discovering that Rishi Sunak’s ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ scheme of summer 2020 actually spread Covid-19 and may have caused thousands of deaths. Better late than never!

This site, and others on the social media, broke the story in December 2020.

This is the reason people should be reading Vox Political. They should be reading Another Angry Voice, Skwawkbox, The Canary and all the other independent news-related websites because that’s where they’re going to find out the things they need to know, at the time they need to know them.

And this is the reason you should be telling everybody you know.

Rishi Sunak may be responsible for killing off thousands of UK citizens – including your relatives, perhaps – and what’s his punishment? He’s now the prime minister. He’s already the richest man in the UK. Doesn’t he deserve to be in prison for dreaming up a scheme that killed many people?

He might have been, if enough attention had been drawn to what he had done at the right time.

But it wasn’t. The mainstream media ignored it – and that meant most people did too.

And now it has been (re)discovered via Matt Hancock’s leaked WhatsApp messages:

The Prime Minister is under pressure over his ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ scheme during the pandemic with claims of a ‘cover up’ and that it spread Covid.

Leaked messages show … concern from then Health Secretary Matt Hancock about how Eat Out to Help Out was spreading the virus.

Mr Hancock told [then-Cabinet Secrtary Simon] Case that the scheme was driving up Covid cases in some of the worst hit areas and that the problems it was causing were ‘serious’.

But he added that he had ‘kept it out of the news’, according to the Telegraph.

Those WhatsApp messages were sent in August 2020. I published my story in December that year, as follows:

Tory Chancellor Rishi Sunak made certain that thousands more people caught Covid-19 than would otherwise have done so, with his Eat Out to Help Out scheme.

Research by the University of Warwick has shown that the initiative is likely to blame for 17 per cent of infections – one in six outbreaks – between August and early September (when it was overtaken by outbreaks linked to schools that had reopened at Boris Johnson and Dominic Raab’s insistence, we may conclude).

People will have died from catching the virus after taking part in Sunak’s crackpot plan.

But nobody has been asking him any hard questions!

Isn’t it time these Tories took responsibility for the fatal consequences of their decisions and left public life for good, under a cloud of shame?

Note that I quoted the Daily Mail, which seems to have done as little as possible about the story.

Obviously, nobody involved has left public life for good under a cloud of shame.

They’re all still here, rubbing our noses in their ability to get away with – if not murder, then possibly mass manslaughter.

*In this instance – I’m sure other mainstream media outlets are also covering this story now, at long last.

Gavin Williamson prepares to blame school kids and parents for Covid spike

“Perfectly safe”: this photo was taken on a school staircase after Boris Johnson ruled that it was “perfectly safe” for children to go back there in September 2020 – no social distancing, no PPE… not safe at all. As schools reopened THIS September, NOTHING HAS CHANGED AT ALL.

We all saw this coming for a long time, didn’t we?

Education Secretary Gavin Williamson has had a month and a half in which to install Covid-19 restricting measures – like improved ventilation – in schools.

He has done nothing.

And now, with schools across the UK reopening again for the autumn term, the dunce at the Department for Education is telling parents any increase in Covid infections will be their fault.

That’s right.

The new Conservative Government plan to deal with the coming wave of Covid-19 is…

You can read the mainstream media version of the story here:

Parents are understandably anxious – and angry

This parent makes the concerns clear:

It seems clear that the plan for keeping schools clear of Covid is exactly as described in this parody account:

Meanwhile, the virus is spreading across the UK, with the restriction of its spread caused by the school holidays eliminated:

Meanwhile, let’s remember the Tories’ real policy for dealing with Covid-19:

So, as your children succumb to infection because they’re being ordered to attend badly-ventilated classrooms before they’ve had a chance to be vaccinated, just remember that all this suffering is vital for Conservative government ministers and their friends to make a fat wad of money.

50,000 dead overall, 33,000 infections IN ONE DAY – and the news is all about Dominic Cummings

Dominic Cummings: he wouldn’t go for a good reason when this shot was taken in the summer, but if the possibility of him quitting distracts us from the UK’s coronavirus horror show, it suddenly becomes headline news.

It seems there is a national media agenda to pull the wool over our eyes.

Covid-19 reached a new height in the UK yesterday. The country became the first in Europe to record more than 50,000 official (remember that) deaths…

(Oh, and by the way…)

Those official figures also show that 33,470 new cases of the virus were recorded, compared with 22,950 on Wednesday…

And the number of fatalities in a single day has reached 595:

Meanwhile the test-and-trace fiasco continues unabated:

And plans to immunise us all against Covid, using the new vaccine, mean some of us won’t get our shots for another 36 years:

And what’s the headline on the news?

What’s going on? Why are the news media blithering about soap-opera shenanigans in Downing Street rather than telling us what we need to know about the virus that is raging through the UK like wildfire?

(I think he means the pain of the victims. Spellchecker can be a burden.)

The question is, are we all being distracted from the horror of the virus and the failure to cope with it by Boris Johnson and his fellow incompetents?

If so, it isn’t working.

Do they really think we’re so stupid we haven’t realised what is happening on our own streets?

Johnson lies again: claim ‘no one knew’ Covid was spread without symptoms is false

By now it should be common knowledge that Boris Johnson’s relationship with factual accuracy is based entirely on his mood.

And his mood at the moment is more cavalier than normal.

Already this week he has blamed the enormous number of Covid-19 deaths at care homes on their bosses, when we all know his government was responsible.

Now he’s trying to pretend we didn’t know that the virus could be spread by people who didn’t display any obvious symptoms.

He’s wrong – as he would have known if he had attended any SAGE meetings, or indeed COBRA meetings.

And he should definitely have been briefed on the fact since those meetings took place.

So it seems clear that he is lying, not just by saying scientists and doctors didn’t know the disease could be spread this way, but about his own understanding of it as well.

Boris Johnson’s claim that ‘no one knew’ coronavirus was spread by patients without symptoms is untrue.

In fact, ministers were warned in January that the virus was being transmitted asymptomatically.

It comes after the PM faced fury after claiming care homes had failed to follow guidelines to prevent the crisis.

Accused of trying to shift blame onto care home owners and frontline workers, the Prime Minister claimed: “No one knew early on in the pandemic that the virus was being passed on asymptomatically.”

But this is untrue.

Minutes of a meeting of the government’s SAGE advisory group on January 28 reveal experts noted asymptomatic transmission was occurring.

Government advice is for teachers to become Covid-19 super-spreaders

Ridiculous: one school’s half-hearted attempt to introduce social distancing for children so young they won’t pay the slightest attention to the new rules.

Take a look at this:

That’s right – instead of conforming with the advice for everyone else, that any contact with someone showing Covid-19 symptoms means self-isolation for two weeks, the Tories are telling teachers to carry on as normal.

This means they could spread the disease to everybody in their class – who could then spread it to their parents and everyone within all of their social circles.

In other words, it seems the Tories are setting up our schools as incubation centres for a huge new wave of Covid-19 infections.

Is this the “good old British common sense” that Boris Johnson likes to mention? If so, what a shame he is incapable of providing any examples of it himself.

This seems an opportune place to remind parents that they have a legal duty to keep their children away from any setting that may harm their youngsters’ help.

If they allow their child to go to school, therefore, and the child catches Covid-19, responsibility for the illness and its consequences will lie with the parent, and not with the Tory government that tried to coerce them into sending their child into danger.

June 1 is only a few days away. I wonder how many parents will send their children to schools that have been turned into deathtraps.
