Thuggish attack on wheelchair user shows anti-disability prejudice is alive and thriving

It says everything about the UK under Conservative rule that people feel empowered to physically abuse the most vulnerable in society.

It’s bad enough that racism is running rampant but disablism is at a high – all thanks to attitudes carefully nurtured by the Tories and their lackey media.

Thugs are following the example of the Tories, whose attitude is that they can do whatever they want to whoever they want.

The Tories have spent years denying the existence of disabled people’s impairments, starving them of benefits until many of them have died – just as they have denied black and minority ethnic people’s right even to live in the UK.

Is it any wonder, then, that incidents like this happen?

Police are hunting a violent thug who attacked a disabled wheelchair user by smacking him in the face.

An investigation into the alleged incident has been launched after a man reported being verbally abused on Florence Place, Perth, on Wednesday June 17.

The victim, who was using an electric wheelchair, was verbally abused with a disgusting comment about his disability before being approached by two males.

He was then left with a facial injury after being whacked by one of the men.

Thugs force MP Williamson to postpone speaking engagement

Speaking engagement: Chris Williamson at a previous event.

Chris Williamson, a Labour MP facing trumped-up charges of anti-Semitism, has been forced to change the venue of a speaking event in Brighton after thugs threatened hotel staff with violence and social media abuse.

He tweeted an email from the Holiday Inn, Brighton, which stated: “Over the past 24 hours, our hotel and employees have been subjected to abuse and threats from members of the public on the phone, on email and on social media outlets.

“We cannot allow our guests and employees to be put at potential harm and we will therefore have to cancel your booking.”

This Writer hopes the hotel has lodged a complaint with the police.

Mr Williamson tweeted that the meeting would go ahead at another location: “We will never allow thuggery and intimidation to stifle freedom of speech!”

Mr Williamson is to face a hearing before Labour’s National Constitutional Committee – the so-called “kangaroo court” that has expelled other members (including This Writer) on the basis of flimsy, nonsensical and trumped-up charges.

He has won the support of many Labour Party members, and also that of leading intellectual (and Jew) Noam Chomsky, who branded the accusations a “disgrace” and an “insult to the memory” of Holocaust victims.

SNP should sort out the Salmond-masked assaulters

Salmond mask: This shot appears to have been posed for The Independent so it seems unlikely that any of these were the perpetrators of the attack on Ed Miliband.

Salmond mask: This shot appears to have been posed for The Independent so it seems unlikely that any of these were the perpetrators of the attack on Ed Miliband.

Political activist thugs donned ‘Alex Salmond’ masks to attack Ed ‘Tough Enough’ Miliband yesterday, after the Labour leader attended a campaign event – but before his TV interview on Channel 4.

It has been claimed that they were Conservative Party supporters. Whoever they were, it seems clear that the Scottish National Party needs to get involved, if this behaviour is going to be stopped.

The incident took place in Rotherhithe, southeast London. According to The Independent, a Labour activist said: “His [Ed Miliband’s] path was blocked by two people who were being very aggressive. He was shoved out of the way and couldn’t get in the car.

“One guy punched Ed in the chest and shut the car door so he couldn’t get in.”

Another Labour activist was quoted as saying: “The group came out of nowhere. Ed only had four of five steps to get to the car but they set upon him immediately.

“He was definitely pushed but he shrugged it off and made his way to the far side of the car. Ed had to push his way through them to get into the car. It was over very quickly but it was shocking.”

A spokesman for Mr Miliband brushed off the incident as “a bit of campaign rough-and-tumble”.

The article stated: “A spokesman for the Conservative party categorically denied any involvement from the party and said any claims Labour were blaming them were lies.”

It’s nice that the Tories don’t want us thinking Labour is blaming them (somebody didn’t think about what they were saying there!), but the fact remains that somebody attacked Ed Miliband.

The fact that they were wearing ‘Alex Salmond’ masks makes it a matter of great interest to the SNP, as it is clearly an attempt to bring that party into disrepute.

Logic suggests that the Tories could be to blame, as they have already run a campaign claiming that Mr Miliband is in Mr Salmond’s pocket:

This is not proof, though.

Let us hope the SNP has the guts to call in the police, find out who did this and ensure they are prosecuted – not only for assault, but for the attack on the Scottish party’s – and Mr Salmond’s – good name.

Or does the SNP think it’s all innocent “rough-and-tumble” too?
