Vox Political is off to court. Back on Thursday

It’s true: Vox Political will be taking a short break while Yr Obdt Srvt travels to London for the second round in the libel case against me, brought by Rachel Riley.

I’m hoping there will be a bit of media coverage, so you’ll probably find out the result before I have a chance to get back and tell you.

For me, this is an important case – not because a ‘here today, gone tomorrow’ TV content provider is trying to bankrupt me but because this case is about a person of huge wealth and influence using that position to intimidate a child, making it possible for her to be exposed to death threats – and then trying to use the legal system to stifle criticism of what she has done.

If I lose this, I fear it will discourage others from standing up to people like that.

And that is unacceptable.

It also means I won’t be back until after people go to the ballot boxes in the general election.

So allow me to beg you, right now…

… to “rise like lions”…

… and vote Labour.

Was this the moment Boris Johnson ensured that LABOUR will win the election?

Boris Johnson: Is this how he looks when he realises he has said the wrong thing yet again?

Do you remember when Gordon Brown referred to “that bigoted woman” after talking to a voter in the run-up to the 2010 general election, having forgotten that he was wearing a microphone and it was switched on?

The recording – and his reaction when it was played back to him in a radio studio – went viral and may well have ensured that Labour lost that election. We ended up with a hung Parliament and the infamous “Con-Dem Coalition” of Tories and Liberal Democrats that created the conditions that are still harming the country – and killing members of its population – now.

Today, with concerns over NHS services and its possible privatisation – by his Conservative party, Boris Johnson was asked about Jack, the four-year-old boy with pneumonia who was photographed by his mother, sleeping on a hospital floor.

And he did this:

He didn’t even look at the image; just waffled around and tried to steal the phone it was on!

It’s actually worse than what Gordon Brown did, because Mr Johnson knew exactly what he was up to – and that he was being filmed doing it.

It tells us all what Mr Johnson was thinking: “Don’t show me somebody’s urchin when I’m trying to lie to you.”

If you think otherwise, consider his response when challenged about it later:

More evasion, waffle and lies.

The Tories aren’t putting the biggest-ever investment in the NHS. New Labour did that.

I wasn’t aware of any Bill going through Parliament before Labour let Mr Johnson have his election, to ensure NHS funding above inflation every year – and I’m pretty sure it would not have been blocked by MPs. And there’s no need for an Act of Parliament to increase NHS funding.

(Oh, and Brexit won’t get done because it’s a years-long process, and the Tories won’t invest massively in our public services because they’re in negotiations with Donald Trump, trying to sell the lot to US companies.)

A commenter on This Site’s Facebook page had a better grasp of the situation: ‘You have heard of “Elf on a Shelf” well this is “Poor on the Floor” – vote Conservative to create many more stories like this, and maybe a “Boris Bonus” where children actually die.’

Meanwhile, Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn was in Bristol, where he had been greeted by an unfathomable number of supporters who heard him discuss Mr Johnson’s latest foot-in-mouth moment:

Who would you trust to make the NHS able to provide proper treatment for Jack, every time?

It’s got to be Corbyn and Labour.

Billie Piper begs voters to reject the Tories with T-shirt slogan

Gotta love Billie Piper. She’s one of UK TV’s greatest assets and now she seems to be expanding into politics with a call for voters to turn their backs on the Tories:

In support of her t-shirt, which cheekily imitates the Tesco logo, she wrote: “Cannot get behind a man who shames single mums and their children, uses casual racism, gambles with the NHS and gives zero f***s about our children’s future.”

That’s a sentiment we should all be able to get behind.

I’m a bit less happy about her plea for us all to turn to tactical voting, though.

Vote for the government you want. That’s the only way to get it.

Want to know why the media – and the Tories – are lying so hard about Labour and Corbyn? Watch this

Have you wondered why the Establishment – the mass media in step with the Conservative government and the suits behind them both – is so desperate to smear Jeremy Corbyn as an anti-Semite (or whatever they’re saying today) and Labour as unfit for government?

It’s because they have a lot to lose if a government is elected that will end the exploitation of the wider public and the domination of industry and the economy by a tiny few billionaires.

All of this is laid out in a very short film.

The Deep State has been made by Flying Tiger Productions and is available to view – free – on Facebook.

See for yourself – here it is:

The Canary has described it as follows:

“This important film exposes how the establishment uses the mainstream media, smears and deception to stay in power. The complex web of lies and misdirection they weave has been expertly unpicked and laid bare by our friends at Flying Tiger Productions. Please watch and share widely.”

Yes – please watch and share widely.

Unless, of course, you enjoy having blinkers pulled over your eyes and wool stuffed into your ears by liars.

Your choice. But bear in mind that you have until Thursday to decide whether to change the UK for the better, or leave it to get worse.

Video: truth about Corbyn’s popularity – “public love him”, he’s PM material.  | The SKWAWKBOX

Via Skwawkbox:

Saturday night’s edition of the BBC’s nightly review of the following day’s newspapers featured an almost unheard-of event – a frank, unfiltered admission of Jeremy Corbyn’s massive popularity with the public.

Even more astonishingly, it also included the confession that Corbyn is ‘prime ministerial’.

So great is Corbyn’s popularity, according to the political editor Nigel Nelson, that “wherever he turns up” he is greeted like a “rock star” – and his personal qualities are so great that he is both prime ministerial [in public] and the same in private.

Corbyn’s phenomenal energy, stamina and work-rate were also covered – and as if that weren’t enough, the strength of Labour’s social care policies versus the Tories’ complete absence of any was also included.

The BBC presenter had asked “Very quickly, what’s he like engaging with the public” – leading to an instant response: “Well the public love him.”

For the video clip, see: Video: truth about Corbyn’s popularity – “public love him”, he’s PM material. How the hell did it get onto BBC? (An hour later, it didn’t) | The SKWAWKBOX

This is Jack. He’s 4. He lay 4 hours on Leeds hospital floor last week – with suspected PNEUMONIA. Vote Labour to end NHS collapse | The SKWAWKBOX

From Skwawkbox:

NHS doctor David Wrigley has posted an image that heart-breakingly depicts the impact of almost a decade of Tory policies and underfunding on our National Health Service.

The image shows a young boy, Jack Williment-Barr, ill with suspected pneumonia – and lying on the floor of Leeds Infirmary for four hours last week, after its under-resourced Accident and Emergency department couldn’t cope and the hospital had nowhere else to put him.

Jack waited more than double the ‘four-hour target’ for treatment – and did not receive a bed until thirteen and a half hours later. Happily, he is now doing well and was discharged from hospital.

NHS performance has reached all-time low after all-time low under the Tories.

Benefit ordeal of man with no limbs shows nothing changed in nine years of Tory rule

Years ago, in the early days of This Site, I used to use an image of a young lady with no arms or legs. It was captioned with something like, “Every six months they call me to another interview… IN CASE THEY’VE GROWN BACK.”

This story proves that nothing has changed in nine years of Conservative rule – despite their many, many protestations that they have changed.

It concerns Kevin Donellon, 58, one of 2,000 people who were born with severe deformities and disabilities caused by the morning sickness drug Thalidomide. Only around 500 have survived into their 50s.

He has no arms or legs and his condition is well known to the National Health Service and the government – it has been since he was born.

Yet the Conservative-run Department for Work and Pensions, in its wisdom, has decided to demand that he provide proof of his disability.

In fact, he has been asked to fill in questionnaires twice in the last year.

As he said himself (according to the Welfare Weekly report): “It’s not like my arms and legs have grown.”

Before you jump to conclusions, Mr Donellon has a degree in social sciences and had a job until deteriorating health forced him to quit 15 years ago.

He’s not a “scrounger” or “skiver”, as Tory rhetoric would want you to believe.

But he’s concerned that the Conservatives are trying to reduce his standard of living, and he says he has many friends who are terrified of being stripped of their benefits.

They consider the current situation to be vindictive and intrusive.

And it’s not about to change.

Well, not unless we vote for a different government.
