Israel to investigate fatal Israeli attack on UNRWA. Will the report be honest?

What do you think? I was actually tempted to put a few “hysterical laughter” emojis on the headline of this story.

In brief: Israeli troops attacked an UNRWA warehouse and food distribution point in Rafah, after UNWRA supplied its co-ordinates (along with those of all their other buildings) to Israel on the understanding that this would ensure that Israel would not attack them.

One person – an UNRWA employee and therefore a non-combatant – has been murdered in this latest Israeli war crime:

Israel’s great ally/collaborator, the United States, has said that the incident should and will be investigated… by Israel. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, in his statement, said everything he could to make it seem that Israel was responding to an act of terrorism by Hamas (that nobody else seems to have noticed).

The comment from “MM”, below, is as sharp as a razor:

Meanwhile, the United States is working hard to exploit that huge pocket of natural gas that has been found off the Gaza coat – the one that belongs to Gaza but on which the US has a deal with Israel:

55 homeless children die in the UK as a result of government policy

Not coming back: in deference to good taste, it seemed reasonable to run an image of a child running away down a back alley, as symbolic of those who have left us and are not coming back because of government policies on poverty and homelessness.

Today (March 5, 2024), This Site published an article about the starvation of children in Gaza, quoting the famous line that if you want to know what politicians would do to you if they could get away with it, look what they support abroad.

Here’s what they are getting away with, here in the UK:

In that other article, I made reference to the late Tony Benn’s words: “The way governments treat refugees is the way they would treat the rest of us if they could get away with it.”

It seems that, here in the UK, they are getting away with it.

Keir Starmer and Rishi Sunak said Israel had the right to do this to Gaza’s children. What are they doing to yours?

Starved to death: the leaders of both the Labour and Conservative parties in the UK have said that Israel had the right to starve Yazan to death, even though it is a war crime. And what about children here in the UK?

Remember Yazan, the Gazan child who was malnourished and starving, but who This Site reported had managed to receive some food from aid drops? Dead now.

It wasn’t enough. Israel’s stranglehold on road routes into Gaza, coupled with its mass murder of anybody trying to pick up food from aid drops that do get in (by air or road), means famine is gripping the Palestinian enclave.

It is the latest stage of Israel’s planned genocide that was launched in October last year – supported by Western politicians including UK prime minister Rishi Sunak and Opposition leader Keir Starmer.

Buy Cruel Britannia in print here. Buy the Cruel Britannia ebook here. Or just click on the image!

So this is as much on their heads as it is on that of Benjamin Netanyahu:

Alongside Yazan, at least 15 children are said to have died in a single hospital in northern Gaza, with another death reported in Rafah.

Strangely, BBC reporting – like that of most (if not all) of the UK’s mass media – fails to mention that this has been caused deliberately by the Israeli government and military:

Who’s next for the charnel house? This girl, perhaps?

Meanwhile in the UK, Waitrose sells you food grown on stolen Palestinian land:

I am reminded once again of the late, great Tony Benn, who said, “The way governments treat refugees is the way they would treat the rest of us if they could get away with it.”

Yazan’s death is an example of the way the UK government – and opposition – treats refugees, because both Rishi Sunak and Keir Starmer support Israel’s policy of starvation.

You may be shocked to learn what is happening to children here in the UK.

The Tory government is deliberately obstructing compensation for Windrush scandal – and other – victims

This ship has sailed: it seems that hopes of the Windrush generation to be compensated for being victimised by the Home Office are disappearing over the horizon, like the ship that brought them here so many decades ago.

Here’s what’s going on:

This Writer understands that the government stole – that’s right, call it what it is:  stole – £4 billion from WASPI women who died before they could be compensated for the harm done to them by raising the state pension age.

That’s enough to plug the gap in local council funding, but – how strange! – the money isn’t going there either!

Are you angry yet? If so, you’re not nearly angry enough.

Buy Cruel Britannia in print here. Buy the Cruel Britannia ebook here. Or just click on the image!

Now, Age UK is reporting that the Windrush generation is being failed by the Home Office yet again, with 87 per cent of people who deserve compensation still waiting for it.

Still not angry?

When will you want action about this? When the government harms you instead?

Why are women who have lost their babies being investigated for a crime?

Police: why are they wrongly accusing women who have lost their babies of committing crimes?

Women say they have been “traumatised” and left feeling “suicidal” after criminal investigations lasting years in which they were suspected of illegally ending a pregnancy.

It seems they are being victimised for losing their babies after the 24-week window for termination.

Abortions after 24 weeks are only allowed if the woman’s life is in danger, if there is a severe fetal abnormality or if the woman is at risk of grave physical and mental injury.

Buy Cruel Britannia in print here. Buy the Cruel Britannia ebook here. Or just click on the image!

But of course that does not mean a woman cannot lose her child for natural – and very often tragic – reasons, as the BBC has pointed out:

An unprecedented number of women are being investigated by police on suspicion of illegally ending a pregnancy, the BBC has been told.

Abortion provider MSI says it knows of up to 60 criminal inquiries in England and Wales since 2018, compared with almost zero before.

Some investigations followed natural pregnancy loss, File on 4 found.

Pregnancy loss is investigated only if credible evidence suggests a crime, the National Police Chiefs’ Council says.

Do we believe that comment from the National Police Chiefs’ Council?

We already know that the Metropolitan Police has been found to be institutionally misogynistic. Perhaps the rot has gone further.

This Writer tends to agree with Dr Jonathan Lord of abortion provider MSI, who said: “These women are often vulnerable and in desperate situations.

“They need help, not investigation and punishment.”

Woman took her own life hours before DWP agreed long-delayed PIP claim | Disability News Service

It’s 11 years – possibly more – since This Site started campaigning for an end to the senseless deaths of sick and disabled benefit claimants… and they are still dying due to Tory ignorance and cruelty:

A young disabled woman took her own life nine months after submitting an application for a disability benefit, which was finally awarded just hours after she died, an inquiry by a committee of MPs has been told.

The Commons work and pensions committee has been told how the 24-year-old’s claim had been held up for months because of flaws within the application process.

Buy Cruel Britannia in print here. Buy the Cruel Britannia ebook here. Or just click on the image!

Her mother has told the committee that the “mental health impact” of the “hurdles” in the application process “should not be underestimated”.

Her evidence again raises serious concerns about flaws and delays within the personal independence payment (PIP) system.

Following her death, DWP identified numerous errors in how her claim had been dealt with, according to the statement.

Disability Rights UK [has] called for a public inquiry to “learn the truth about what has happened in cases of benefit related deaths and serious harm”.

Rishi Sunak’s NHS fail in a single social media post

It is as Prem Sikka explained in a speech to the House of Lords (and an article for Left Foot Forward):

The government has reduced access to healthcare.

That was, is and remains the entire point of everything the Tories have done with the National Health Service since 2010 – and is the reason millions have died while awaiting NHS care under their rule.

Why are the children of Gaza deemed to deserve trauma, mental illness and death?

Traumatised: here’s a child whose legs had to be cut off after an Israeli attack in Gaza. Wouldn’t you agree that such an event at such an early age is likely to have repercussions for the rest of this poor mite’s life?

The Chair of the United Nations’ child rights committee has spoken out against the persecution of children in Gaza, caused by Israel’s genocide there.

Here’s part of what she had to say:

No doubt the Israeli “authorities”, such as they are, will dismiss Ann Skelton’s comments as they come from the United Nations and Israel does not recognise the UN’s authority.

Buy Cruel Britannia in print here. Buy the Cruel Britannia ebook here. Or just click on the image!

It’s a strange attitude to the organisation that brought the current state of Israel into being. Perhaps if Israel doesn’t recognise UN authority on this, it should make a statement that the UN had no authority to create Israel and dissolve itself immediately?

Nobody seriously believes that is a possibility. But its current attitude reveals the Israeli government and military to be hypocrites.

And the bombings continue. And the children continue to die. Or be traumatised into suffering mental illness for (possibly) the rest of their lives.

How would you feel if these were your children?

US government’s hypocrisy over the deaths of journalists in Gaza and elsewhere

Wael Al-Dahdouh: Isrealis murdered this journalist’s family and then shot him. He is still alive, though.

This Site has accumulated a huge amount of information on the genocide in Gaza that I’ve been unable to publish as stories with my own opinion of them – due to time constraints.

Rather than leave them unseen, I’ve decided to publish them – with a caveat that it is up to you to decide what you make of them.

Less-trained ‘physician associates’ are taking over from doctors – because they’re cheaper

Physician associate: training for these not-doctors is cropping up all over the place (this is at Chester University).

If you fall ill or are injured, would you like to be treated by a proper doctor – or would you accept treatment by a so-called ‘physician associate’ who is far less well-trained, but cheaper, and whose employment is intended to make a bigger profit for private health companies?

Here’s Damo to explain what this latest healthcare nightmare is all about:

Already two deaths have been linked to PAs. This means the Tories have intended to make those deaths possible.

Buy Cruel Britannia in print here. Buy the Cruel Britannia ebook here. Or just click on the image!

And Labour too – because PAs appear to be part of Keir Starmer and Wes Streeting’s plan for the NHS. They certainly didn’t lift a finger to stop them becoming part of your future – if you have a future at all under the ministrations of these not-doctors.

Don’t just take Damo’s word on this. Here’s an actual doctor:

You have your instructions!

Please tell your MP you want the NHS to be staffed with proper doctors – and if private companies don’t want to spend the money, they shouldn’t be part of the service. You can find out how to get in touch here.
