Tobacco companies prepare to sue government for £11bn over introduction of plain cigarette packaging – Mirror Online
This will be a pittance compared to the amounts health companies will claim if the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership agreement is signed in its current form, with the Investor-State Dispute Settlement mechanism that allows firms to sue governments over loss of earnings due to legislation–
— such as the re-nationalisation of England’s health service under any future government.
Tobacco companies rallying against the introduction of plain packaging are preparing to sue the government for an absolutely massive sum
Ha!!!!!!!!! They have screwed up already!! tut tut breaking the law as well!!
Sign of things to come under our new masters the yanks jeff3
So much for the article in the BJM about the tobacco companies wining and dining MP’s… and then go on to stab them in the back!
You are absolutely right about the suing under the TTIP in secret courts made up of corporate lawyers out to screw countries from lost profits if the government has any protections in place for the people or the environment.
A nightmare.
As they say on Last Week Tonight…
