Unite threatens to drop support for Andy Burnham unless he opposes all spending cuts – Telegraph
And why not? Austerity is a stupid policy that leaves less money in the economy. It was applied by stupid Conservatives who didn’t know any better and has cut everyone’s income by £4,000 per year, since 2010.
Senior figures at Britain’s biggest trade union warn it will not endorse Labour leadership front-runner unless he proposes ‘anti-austerity’ economic policy

Hopefully they will stick by that pledge but i doubt it Austerity is here to stay and that’s the bottom line not only for now but always that you can be assure of
The public voted for Austerity after all and the loss of their human rights so Andy will have to align his thinking with there wishes and if he doesn’t he will fail
In 5 years time the country will be so battered it will be a miracle if labour came back as those being battered will be small enough in numbers to not make a dent in the conservatives ideology and will get to stay on in power
Have you read The Shock Doctrine by Naomi Klein? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Shock-Doctrine-Rise-Disaster-Capitalism/dp/0141024534/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1432621820&sr=1-1&keywords=the+shock+doctrine+by+naomi+klein You really should. Austerity’s a faked-up faux emergency invented by the Right-wing solely for the purpose of conning the broader population into thinking they have to suffer while all our assets, paid for by taxpayers, are sold off. It’s the sort of scam generally practiced by bent corporations and corrupt politicians on backwards, third-world countries where the natives are so ignorant they don’t understand what’s happening to them. The Tories have brought it here where, you must admit, it’s working great!
… on natives who are so ignorant they don’t understand what’s happening to them!
As Burnham has already stated that he won’t accept money from ANY unions to help run his campaign for leader I don’t know why Unite has decided to shout this from the rooftops.
Possibly with an eye on the future? If Andy Burnham becomes leader but supports austerity, the union will cut its ties?
Just a thought.
