The serious message that prompted a woman to hit a politician in the face with a sex toy

Last Updated: February 5, 2016By

Unfortunate: The sex toy hit Steven Joyce square in the face.

Oh yes, very funny – man hit in face with a big pink rubber penis. Hilarious.

And so it is.

But there is a serious message behind it.

The woman throwing the, er… device… was protesting against the Trans-Pacific Partnership, a trade agreement that many say has robbed nation states like New Zealand of their sovereignty and given the power to multi-national corporations instead.

Here in the UK, politicians are secretly negotiating a Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), which many – including This Writer – believe will rob our own citizens of their rights in the same way.

Politicians say this is a mistake, but they would, wouldn’t they?

David Cameron has just spent months trying to convince us he is doing something real to keep UK sovereignty from being leeched away by the European Union – but he seems to think handing it all on a plate to multinationals is perfectly acceptable.

If TTIP is approved here in the UK, can we look forward to the spectacle of David Cameron being ‘whacked’ in a similar fashion?

It would be a new experience for him – all the available evidence suggests he likes to put things in other creatures’ faces.

A New Zealand politician was [filmed as he was] hit in the face [with] a sex toy by a protester as he gave interviews to journalists.Steven Joyce, a member of the New Zealand National Party, was talking to crowds in Waitangi, near Paihia, when he was ‘attacked’ by a woman in the audience.

In the clip, the large, pink toy comes flying across the camera screen before hitting the 52-year-old squarely in the face.

As she [throws] the sex toy, the woman is heard yelling: “That’s for raping our sovereignty.”

The TTIP is more than just relieving us of our sovereignty, but also our democracy, jobs and businesses, ecology and much, much more. I hope the next “toy” flung at a Tory or Labour right winger supporting TTIP is made of something other than rubber. The politicians won’t tell you about the various tax dodges and Intellectual Property cons either.
