Way to go, Boris Johnson. You have attracted unwelcome attention from the Russian government by voicing unsubstantiated claims and inciting rash behaviour because of it.

With relations between Russia and the West as fractious as they are at the moment, is this really the time to go sabre-rattling – especially as Russia’s military machine is far more dangerous than ours?

And I feel duty-bound to point out – not for the last time, I’m sure – that Mr Johnson’s monologue against Russia has done nothing to improve the prospect of peace – in Syria or anywhere else.

I would suggest that politicians should think before speaking – but in Mr Johnson’s case, that is a lost cause.

Russia has condemned Boris Johnson’s call for demonstrations outside its London embassy as “shameful”.

The foreign secretary said on Tuesday that he would “like to see” a protest against bombings of the Syrian city of Aleppo, which are being blamed on Vladimir Putin’s forces.

But Moscow, which denies the claims, accused him of “Russophobic hysteria”.

And the Stop the War Coalition said protests in the UK would not “make a blind bit of difference”.

And a Labour spokesman suggested people were free to protest outside the embassies of all foreign powers intervening in Syria, including the US.

There does seem to be a very good reason for thinking of circus acts when one reads of his comments!

Perhaps he shoud also consider getting people to demonstrate outside the Saudi Embassy as a protest against what they are doing in the Yemen. Silly me of course Russia doesn’t but millioms of pounds worth of arms from us.

Boris should get on to the US they made ISIS and all the other terrorist organisations and tell them to stop painting there planes Russian colours and putting Red stars on them to pass the blame onto Russia and stop supplying all the weapons to terrorist and we should be getting some where after that ask why the US is in Syria the goverment was voted in by 65% of the people so Assad as every right to run the country as for the Russians they where invited in to help the country fight terrorism

For only a movement that swells into every street and across borders and does not give up can stop the warmongers. Next year, it will be a century since Wilfred Owen wrote the following. Every journalist should read it and remember it…

If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood
Come gargling from the froth-corrupted lungs,
Obscene as cancer, bitter as the cud
Of vile, incurable sores on innocent tongues,
My friend, you would not tell with such high zest
To children ardent for some desperate glory,
The old lie: Dulce et decorum est
    Pro patria mori.

“It is sweet and glorious to die for one’s country.”

Russia could equally have called Johnson a hypocrite for the FCO’s continued obstruction of a proper UN investigation into war crimes in Yemen – the evidence for which is very much stronger than it is for the Russians in Syria.

I’d thoroughly recommend checking out this article from Peter Obourne on the subject:

IDS never said that the public should go and protest outside the DWP because of all the premature deaths they had caused the sick and disabled in going through welfare reform. so i’m not sure why the public would be invited by boris to protest outside the russian embassy other then to save the lives of those in syria ?

maybe if boris had been in charge of welfare reform all of those deaths of the sick and disabled would have been avoided ?

i can’t believe that is the logic of boris as it’s very floored

you either are renowned for leading a fight against all injustices or your not ? picking and choosing on those who die in the world just wont wash as there are many brutal goverment ministers in the world including our own in the DWP

SORRY BORIS but good try into making a world statement that’s deeply floored

      Flawed, not floored.

Now that idea I can agree with. The USA – the world’s greatest threat to any kind of peace and instigator of so many genocidal wars should have been kicked out of the UN and left in splendid isolation to rot in hell. The world does not need the US but the US has no economy without the wars it instigates and perpetuates.
Now if Bungling Boris could just see what is in front of his nose his motormouth might be useful, as it is, he is such an incompetent that he is a frightening liability.
